I was just playing around with Alchemy and this inspired me.
Again, very simple, very short this time, but I guess you could consider it to be a WIP. Not sure yet. http://soundcloud.com/4lbkitty/interlude Thanks for listening! I promise I'll do some layering soon. ---- "Be excellent to each other." Dax IX (Music) | Ambient Online Cubase 7, A Few VSTi, Win8 Pro 64, AMD FX-6100, 32GB RAM, 3.25TB total HDD, SSD |

Thanks! Hopefully my next piece will be a complete diversion from this. Actually, I'll need a new SC account for that one. ---- "Be excellent to each other." Dax IX (Music) | Ambient Online Cubase 7, A Few VSTi, Win8 Pro 64, AMD FX-6100, 32GB RAM, 3.25TB total HDD, SSD |

Yes, this is nice and would make a great interlude piece or maybe even the opening track on the next Opeth album (for instance). I like contrasting moods between consecutive tracks and really think this would be ideal set off against some dark metal or something similarly upbeat/aggressive.
ymmv Nice work |

Thanks! I love contrast, too. Mark can't figure out how I can have every track on my mp3 player on shuffle. I still think it's best to have my next track on a new SC account, though. Most people can't handle that kind of contrast. ---- "Be excellent to each other." Dax IX (Music) | Ambient Online Cubase 7, A Few VSTi, Win8 Pro 64, AMD FX-6100, 32GB RAM, 3.25TB total HDD, SSD |

Yeah. I have about 6000 tracks on my Zune, and that is set to shuffle. I love surprises.

Now that I am done my song (thanks to some great advice in the forum here did you play this or input it with a piano roll? not that it matters just curious is all. I wish I could play much better, I do most of my stuff with piano roll. If you want to send this to me and I will try to get out some part of the sound that sounds a little harsh. Or maybe you could just try eqing yourself? Something about it sounds a tad bit harsh, not sure how to explain, it is a gorgous song though! I noticed with a lot of Alchemy stuff it has to be fixed a little bit because there is something "wrong" with a lot of the patches. But whatever, like I said beautiful song! ---- my music: http://www.soundclick.com/alexcooper “Everybody is a genius. Thanks, all. I normally use the piano roll, but this time I was just playing, and I liked what I heard, so I went back and "recorded" the midi that I'd just played (A Cubase function that I just discovered recently). I don't really know how to play, either. I did have to go back and edit it slightly, but it really does not follow any time signature. It's VERY loose, time-wise. I'll play with the eq a bit and see what I come up with. I didn't personally hear anything harsh, but I'll listen closely to see what's going on. If I have to I can send it to you. ---- "Be excellent to each other." Dax IX (Music) | Ambient Online Cubase 7, A Few VSTi, Win8 Pro 64, AMD FX-6100, 32GB RAM, 3.25TB total HDD, SSD |

I listened again, a bit louder, and do hear something I didn't hear previously..but I still don't consider it harsh..and my nht-pro a10's aren't too bad, either. But in my line of work with piano's (tuning and voicing), the way people hear things differently is quite interesting. |

I just call something harsh if it has a sound that is unsettling or somewhat irratating to my ears. ---- my music: http://www.soundclick.com/alexcooper “Everybody is a genius. I love it! It reminds me of the soundtrack of the movie "Sunshine" (that's a good thing) I also don't hear any harshness at all btw! There is definitely some "high end shimmer" going on but I like it! I guess that's a subjective thing Added to my favorites on Soundcloud and it's on my MP3 player now (Thanks for the free download!) Wow, Dennis! Thanks! I'm really glad you liked it! I think I hear what Alex is hearing, too (the high end shimmer that Dennis mentioned). I'm not sure I object to it, but I'll play around a little and see what comes of it. ---- "Be excellent to each other."
