My original post is now 5 years old, and hopefully worthy of a bump.JumpingJackFlash wrote:This is intended as a simple guide for the beginner, covering the basics of music theory. It also overlaps to cover areas of notation and harmony. If the mods find it worthy, maybe they could make it a sticky?
I would also like to take the opportunity to recommend a book on Four Part Harmony to anyone interested and who wants to learn more about that sort of thing. Published by Classroom Resources, it is a comprehensive yet concise guide to everything you could want to know about harmony. It starts with the basics and gradually goes up through more complicated concepts. It also includes material on understanding intervals and key signatures.
It is available from the publisher:

You can get it half-price if you agree not to photocopy any of it.
