hey there,

Ive been recently trying to make this acid bass sound that is present from the beginning of this youtube video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQ0Ir8ySVVo

ive came close by using a square wave into a lp filter and cranking the res abit, then adding a slightly delayed attack to give it that little rise at the start. and short decay to give it a stabby sound.

it sounded nout like this sound really Sad haha, until i added a bit of re verb on it, i know thats not normal to do that but it got it closer. however im still far from it.

how would you guys go about making this sound... am i going in the right direction...

hope you guys can help me out.

cheers,
Kris

A synth called D16 Physocon will probably have that exact sound in its presets, its made for sounds like this

Hope that helps

It's realy like subtractive square.
But I think it is FM.

Use a FM synth.
The frequency ratio maybe 1:2 (modulator : carrier).
Set the carrier's ENV fast atack, and then set the modulator's ENV slow attack.

Now I tried but failed Laughing
I tried some subtractive synth too.

I know this sound.
It's very classic and standard.
But I can't recreate it with plugin synth.

Juno-106 with chorus + highpass?

ahh just tried the it with fm 8 had a fidle around and although the aspects are similar its still not right.

i actually have a juno - 106 beside me and that was my first port of call to get this sound, i have been messing around with it allll day and it seems to get to a point where i cant get any closer and there is still something not right the sound in the video seems alot cleaner. maybe a real 303... i still believe it could be a plugin though as it has that clean sound. the 106 sounds to fat.

fm8 came the closest in tersm of tone however im pritty much a novice on fm and i cant seeem to shape it right. Sad

Shaping FM Confused So easy to get every interesting sound you could ever want... except for the one you ACTUALLY WANT lol

Haven't used FM in a long time but VOPM was my weapon of choice.
