WHere did you get that figure from as the "usual $189 upgrade price"?? Since buying Live 2 back in the day, I've bought every upgrade bar one, and never paid that for the core programme upgrade. The only time I have paid that amount was if I was also buying add on products at the same time, for example when Operator first came out, and later when I upgraded to the Suite. Just checking in my business accounts, I see the last basic upgrade fee I paid for a full version upgrade was £55. I don't see the value in making up stuff about their pricing that isn't true To answer your question, I can personally think of loads of stuff I would quite like them to add or improve. but if you're happy with Live 8.4 as it is, then good for you - you won't need to pay them an upgrade fee. |

i was off by $20... i do not think that is making stuff up... just a honest mistake... i am pretty sure you have been guilty of a honest mistake before... maybe not... again... my "BAD"!!!! No problem, and din't mean to over react... but for that price I'm assuming you went from standard to Suite, or bought a boxed upgrade or something. Certainly that's not a regular price as you suggested, and (perhaps wrongly) I assumed you were having a go at Ableton over their pricing. I've done that myself mind you... Quote: about paying the upgrade price for Live 9... i always support the companies that makes "tools" i use... just cant see after 64-bit what else they could add... that would be worth the upgrade price... i.e. $169!!!
Let's see what it costs when it comes out As I said before, I've never paid that for a straight Live to Live upgrade. Unless there is added sample content though, I always do the download upgrade, and I also try to jump on their special offers which are many and varied Quote: forgot to add... i would have paid more than $169 for an 64-bit Live...

64 Bit Ableton Live is useful when "RAM Mode" for samples is enabled.
Do anyone know if there's a way (may be with the Options.txt file) to make Ableton use RAM Mode for samples as the Default option ? |

ugh - i am excited with the potential of x64 bit Live but dang, I fired up my beta version and I'd say 88% of my plug's have vanished! I've gone back to my vst folders and loaded some my mainstay plug-ins which i had only initially installed at 32bit (up to this point); I then loaded the x64 bit versions. yet, when i launched live again, 9 out of 10 of 'em still aren't showing even though i see the name of the plug-in zip by in the left hand corner when Live 64 bit is launching - this is going to be an ugly tedious process, isn't it?
what is more, entire file folders i've created to better organize my vst window in Live is missing...gone - whoosh - argh...so much for actually working on music in the near future. at the moment, not knowing how much more i may or may not appreciate the efficiencies and power of working in 64bit, i am tempted to say "ignorance is bliss" and keep chugging along with ye ol' 32bit version of Live. |

weren't some people just talking about jbridge not working well with live in another thread? Not that I doubt you, but seems to be conflicting.
Even though it will be the public beta before I can chime in officially, I'd like to see if maybe, by some change, I might have a bit of info for sadkin? Better ask first though, is this just live that behaving strangely (ie do you have another x64 host that is already behaving correctly?) It almost sounds like there is a bridge being used, is that the case with the new beta? |
