I'm VERY excited to say that our popular Shreddage/Shreddage X and Shreddage Bass: Picked Edition are now available in the highly-flexible, open SFZ format! So not only do you not need Kontakt, you will actually be able to use FREE samplers such as the excellent, cross-platform, 32/64bit LinuxSampler. To celebrate, we have launched an ALL-NEW website for our Shreddage family of libraries:

www.shreddage.com

Here you will find overviews and tech specs of our guitar & bass libraries, along with official audio demos, video tutorials, walkthroughs and user-submitted demos. We decided to create a new site for these instruments because of their incredible popularity, and wanted to give them their own spotlight in addition to their place on our main website.

Features of Shreddage:
* Incredibly realistic, direct-in electric guitar ideal for rock/metal rhythm playing
* Includes almost all content from both Shreddage + Shreddage X
* 8x round robins with up and down strokes (auto-alternating, or selected by keyswitch)
* True double-tracked sound
* Fast and normal palm mutes for even more realistic fast riffs
* Powerchords, half-powerchord mutes, open notes, aggressive picking
* Tremolo, vibrato, pinch squeals, and harmonics
* Full chokes, scrapes, slides, squeaks and fret noise (releases)
* Tuning down to a brutal Ab
* Simulated hammer-on/pull-off legato playing
* Usable in any sampler that supports SFZ

Peavey ReValver HPse:
Much like the Kontakt version of Shreddage, the SFZ version comes with the excellent ReValver HPse plugin by Peavey. This custom amp sim is ideal for both clean and hi-gain sounds, and we've provided a bank of Shreddage presets to get you started right out of the box. If you want more presets, amps, cabs and pedals, you get a fantastic discounted upgrade to Revalver MK III.V or HP! Check out this video to see how true double-tracking and tone crafting works:

Features of Shreddage Bass: Picked Edition
* Thick, easy-to-mix bass sound for any genre
* Drop Bb tuning
* 8x round robins, 3x dynamic layers
* Open and muted notes
* Sustained and staccato notes
* Upstroke and downstroke-only modes
* TRUE hammer-on and pull-off legato playing!
* Usable in any sampler that supports SFZ

Differences between SFZ and Kontakt:
If you don't own Shreddage yet and are deciding which version to buy, the comparison is fairly simple. Shreddage SFZ has most content from the Kontakt versions but does not have a scripted UI or true recorded legato (due to limitations of the SFZ format). Also, since there is not wide support for the modwheel in SFZ, we use keyswitches instead, which some may find less convenient. So, if you DO have Kontakt, you may consider that version to be the better option. However, the SFZ version has all other articulations, double-tracking, and the full range of round robins, so if you DON'T have Kontakt you are still getting the vast majority of both libraries! Shreddage Bass is the same deal, though it DOES actually have all content and legato scripting... just not the fancy UI of the Kontakt version.

Price / Availability:
Both libraries are available NOW for only $49 - CHEAPER than the Kontakt versions and usable by literally anyone that has a DAW!

I went ahead and grabbed the SFZ versions (will pay the difference for the Kontakt versions later once I actually own that piece of software), and I noticed that LinuxSampler only seems to really want to have one instance open of itself at a time. If I try to open a second instance and load a new patch, that patch gets loaded into both instances. That's a wee bit of a problem when I want to have m'self a full band of both bass and guitar. Any suggestions? I have FL Studio 10 Signature Edition, so I have DirectWave and the Fruity Soundfont Player to work with if needed.

That said, I'm already thrilled with my purchase, but I'd love to be able to use both parts in real time.

You can add channels for Shreddage Bass to the LinuxSampler (LS) rack, and send them to LS Out 5 (which in real life translates to channel 3, but its named 5). Remember to switch Engine from "GIG" to "SFZ" before trying to load.

You find the the output selection within the channel itself, by pressing the "options arrow" and then the little button that says "cr". To send a channel to output 5 set Audio out to the values 4 and 5.

The whole thing is a bit unintuitive, I can write you a better guide or even make you a quick .lscp preset if you dont figure it out. HTH :)

I took my best shot, but I've gotten nowhere fast. If you'd be kind enough to write out that more detailed guide (or create a patch), I'd be much obliged. :)

I'll create a .lscp tomorrow for both shreddage x and bass combined. :)

Awesome, thank you so much!

On the top of the rack in Linuxsampler, you can see the numbers 1-4 on small dark grey buttons. They are rack views. In the file above they translate to:

1 - Shreddage X
2 - Shreddage Bass
3 - Empty Racks for Midi Ch 3 to 11
4 - Empty Racks for Midi Ch 12 to 16

I have also configured the outputs, midi chs and engine for these empty racks, so you can just go ahead and load other sfz's into them.

EDIT: Dont forget to resave the .lscp patch after you have located the sfz's on your hard drive. (As written in the "Getting Started guide")
:)

@ Zircon, if you want to host this file that would be great!

Thanks a lot for putting these products out on SFZ format! Any plans for Shreddage 2 to be released in SFZ format at time of completion, or is that something you have planned for post release as was done with these two items?

So...I purchased Shreddage Bass, the SFZ version...sounds great in FL Studio along with LinuxSampler...only one HUGE problem. I can hear the bass and everything when I press play in the DAW, but as soon as I export my project, the bass dissapears, and isn't present in my mixdown mp3 file I created!

Go back and press play in the DAW...bass is right there...I'm confused. It appears as though as soon as I export the mix in FL Studio, it kills the LinuxSampler VST, and renders without it, then as soon as it's done rendering, quickly brings the LinuxSampler back to life. Please help.

EDIT: Not sure if this is related.

Anyhow, works great in the DAW, but when rendered, there is no bass guitar present. In the mean time...I'm downloading Alchemy Player to see if that will work since they claim SFZ support, and the player version is free.

That's bizarre. Try going to the VST settings for LinuxSampler (click the channel in FL, then the gear icon in the upper left). Go to Processing, turn Rendering Mode Notify on. If it's already on, turn it off. If that doesn't work, do the same with Use Fixed Size Buffers.

The "use fixed size buffers" option worked on a blank track...now to try it on my actual songs I had built. I'll let you know if it works.

Just a quick update: worked perfectly! Thanks so much for your help, I'm really loving this bass.

I just purchased the the Shreddage X bundle. And WOOOOOW this sounds so great especially considering the price. You have done an amazing job. :) Too bad I didn't buy the Shreddage Bass in the bundle. :(

I hope this makes it a lot easier to create the riff and sound ideas for my band (I can't play the guitar). :)

You really raised the bar for 2.0. Can't wait for it. Rock on guys.
