http://www.dv247.com/computer-music-software/bitwig-studio-m usic-production-and-performance-software--93544 There was one other store that had the same price, but can't find it. Seems strange to me that it would be up at a store at all considering you can't get it. That is expensive, quite probably more than I can afford these days... |

It was always going to be close to Abletons price IMO. Looks very promising. Would be easier for BW to break into the DAW market quicker with lower pricing but they may need keep the price high to pay development costs e.t.c Logics pricing is probably beyond most devs ability to compete with. |

Since Bitwig has now opened the beta testing phase (since today), I hope those of you who were invited to beta-test it (if any) will at least report if the product you're beta testing is real or not... ---- --- |

If that is in the right ball park for price it makes me think that they are going to struggle breaking into this market which is already overcrowded. Look at what happened to Avid recently - doesn't look good for them right now, and I'm sure that doesn't bode well for a company that has yet to make a sale.
Would like to see them succeed but I don't know they're going to find it easy to break into the market with an untried product with costs on par with the established products. |

Not everything had gone ietc and hardware/software seemed to be on the up. Now, it's very strange times. EDIT. How incredibly odd that AU support would not be there. Well, not a good thing. Yes, No AU support is a bad move. You would think that a new DAW like this can't afford to alienate a significant number of users in the community. There're a lot of impulse buys the first month or two and this is a nice inrush of capital for a start-up. I don't think I would jump ship from Logic, but I would have something like this in my toolkit. Over time it could find itself taking over assuming the results are beyond expectations. I love Logic 9 and am not the one waiting for X in order to make music. Having said that, if Logic does go the route of Final Cut, Bitwig could be in a good position to catch those who do see where the future of Logic is heading. No doubt those users are relying far more in AU than VST. I guess I would like to have a reasonable explanation for why they chose not to support AUs. It would be interesting to know. |
