Irion Da Ronin - BEC - 5 Points
First place because it is the most complete song here imo. So many elements (which clearly are very well thought out and structured in themselves) and they work really well together. It is really not a style I like though so I would not have given you first place, the percussion is a little irritating to me, but the main melody is very beautiful and the composition is very good and there is nothing else in the competition that has all these elements as well as this does. After listening to it a couple of times I started to get the grating beat contrasted with the lovely melodies and now I can say I like the whole thing just as it is. There is no way you would guess that this is all from a free synth either with no fancy FX allowed. Excellent work imo and it connects with me emotionally. Love the filtered down and glitchy sections too. Very moody! Very human in it's overall tone. Stonail - Waiting for fade-out - 4 Points Technically out-standing, good style. Mix is a bit flat, not a lot of individual elements come out distinctly imo. Maybe too much limiting. Secondly it is very cerebral. That is the style so that's not a fault, but it does mean it's a little more difficult to connect with. Definitely do not stop as the synthesis is extremely interesting and inspiring. Cactoos - A.S.P - 3 Points Not the most technically brilliant but extremely good. It is over-compressed imo which is a shame but it doesn't ruin it completely. Really lovely melody and very relaxed feel. Very nice piece that is memorable and meaningful. Could be a great song with lyrics etc. It is very short though. dwringer - After images - 2 Points Not a lot to say it's just really good. It's so far-out for me though that I don't know exactly how to judge it. dwringer - time dilation - 1 Point Really chilled vibe. Love all the chords. Really like your stuff. Mixes could be a bit more open though. I hear a lot of compression and find it a little distracting. But YMMV. Everyone else, shame on you for such bad music. Just kidding. Everyone was very interesting to listen to and you clearly had a lot of fun. Other good stuff but I just voted for what connected with me the most. I knew about Minimoogue and was going to enter but when I loaded it up It just looked all confusing I couldn't get into it. I think it was just because I had a lot going on last month. Next time hopefully. ---- Aiynzahev-sounds Resonance Sound Sound Designer - Soundsets for Massive, LuSH, DIVA, DUNE, Sylenth and others |

Irion Da Ronin - BEC 2 - Raising (5 points)
Fantastic song and concept. Great transitions between the light and heavy sections. Excellent sounds and mix. The arrangement is really well thought out, goes by very quickly for a seven minute track. Photonic - darksideofthemoog (4 points) Funky and fresh. Great riffage and composition. Awesome proggy finish left a sweet taste in my mouth. Stonail - Waiting For Fadeout (3 points) Great dynamic sounds and very creative arrangement. Kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. Kraftraum - Rotation 6 (2 points) Excellent percussion, luscious pads, nice growly bass, spacey fx, really enjoyed this. CapDan - I'm A Farmer (Mini-Mix) feat. DJ Fruity & MC Mooogue (1 point) Big beats, infectious grooves, and cool sounds. Right on. ...and the rest of my top ten as I narrowed it down: Skyzone - Dream like mogue Pulse Width Modulation - Pop-Collar Lover Yeager - To Oslo And Back dwringer - time dilation cactoos - a.s.p. |

- Beautiful Z.prime - Far From Earth - 4 points - Only other contender for the top spot Dwringer - AnalogRhythm - 3 points - Your stuff is so unusual that at times I had trouble deciding whether it was very good or very bad. I came down mostly on the side of the former. Reminds me of Aphex Twin. Kraftraum - Rotation6 - 2 points - Great sound for the main riff Cactoos - A.S.P - 1 point - Very nice It was very difficult to decide on places 3-5. There were about 10 tracks that could have earned a place there. |

Got distracted by the NEW OSC and almost forgot to come back and vote!
Irion Da Ronin - Beautiful Electronic Creature Rising: 5 Yeager - To Oslo and Back: 4 Kraftraum - Rotation 6: 3 Z Prime - Far from Earth: 2 Pulse Width Modulation - Pop-Collar Lover: 1 In all honesty, this was a tough choice. I'd have tied several of these, but decided between them based on the number of repeat plays they had in my car and how recognizable they were to me when I listened to them here in the studio one last time tonight. This is an exceptional crowd. I'll be bringing more game this month! ---- -Michael |

I am honored for all the votes I have gotten! I really didn't expect much, this month was just a lot of "rapid prototyping" which really left me with more questions than answers as to what I'm gonna do for this next challenge - we'll see I suppose.
Sorry I haven't really had much time to comment on anyone's work this month, but I really appreciate everything you guys have said on here and in soundcloud comments. Stonail, considering the quality of your sound design, I am really honored by your vote! The brushes are just some filtered whitenoise with an LFO to simulate moving the brush around on the head, it really didn't take long Torchlight - I agree, I think there's some pretty bad stuff in my submissions, this month I pretty much went with whatever came out. I'm glad you appreciated some of the better content I felt I was able to get in there Finally, here are my votes for this month: 5pts: z.prime - Far From Earth Truly original and a fantastic sound, loaded with inspiration 4pts: Stonail - Waiting For Fadeout Great sounds, reminds me of all my favorite electronic musicians, which frankly are quite different from most of the music on here (not that I have any problems with these other styles, it's just not something I'm familiar with) 3pts: Yeager - To Oslo And Back Really evocative. 2pts: Irion De Ronin - BEC 2 - Raising Incredible musicality. The moog vibrato done "right". 1pt: cactoos - a.s.p. Really solid tune, never dull. For honorable mention I will simply name Photonic's track. I really wanted to vote for you both this month and last. I had an excruciating time narrowing this down to 5, even moreso than last month. Thanks everyone! |
