This is a sampling of what was recorded in my kitchen earlier this week, drums were miced with a single MCA SP1 above the drummers right shoulder pointing at the snare. Bass was recorded DI. I'm a bit on the fence with to do production-wise, for sure some guitars and keyboards will be added in the future and right now I'm looking for a good sounding compressor and room reverb without breaking the bank. It's too bad I lost my vstplugins folder due to HDD failure a while back. Anyway, hope you like the raw mix for now.

https://www.box.com/s/5ced4936179acb4f156f Sounds like it was recorded very well. I like the raw sound of it a lot. For a good reverb a lot of people like ValhallaRoom and it is only $50, I have never tried it myself but has a lot of good word of mouth. Plus price is right. Here is a link to it: http://www.valhalladsp.com/valhallaroom There are just so amny compressors out there, I would use demos and find what works for you. Maybe try the Voxengo site for a good sounding one at a decent price? http://www.voxengo.com/ ---- my music: http://www.soundclick.com/alexcooper “Everybody is a genius. Very enjoyable indeed. Good music and I thought the playing and recording was good. I must have liked it a lot, 'cos I then played Vienna Breakdown by Back Door. If you haven't heard it, you should check it out. I think you'll like it.
Good work |

Thank for the encouraging words guys. At this point I've found some compressors(DC8C, MajorTom) and room reverbs(ValhallaRoom seismic1 wrote: I must have liked it a lot, 'cos I then played Vienna Breakdown by Back Door. Haven't heard them before, those guys are tight! |

I've dropped the idea of drum replacement. Instead I found a solution in multiband compression to bring out the burried the kick fundamental and the toms sound good enough after some EQ.

Kit sounds good to me, but I have no experience recording live instruments. markanini wrote: Still tweaking but please tell me how you think the drum track sounds: https://www.box.com/s/c22984b2d04ef75ed532 Again, I liked the sound and the playing, but I hope that somebody with experience in these matters would be able to offer better feedback. |

I've been struggling with getting the best out of the drums but I believe I've made some progress: https://www.box.com/files/0/f/0/1/f_3040328635 |
