when i'm browsing through presets in diva, i'm usually more interested with what the patch sounds like dry at first. in zebra, there is a bypass effects button that turns off the effects for all patches so i'm wondering if there is a similar function in diva?

No, but there are just 2 led buttons to turn off instead of one, so it's not that much trouble.
If just turning off reverb or delay, then that's good, but turning of the chorus/modulation types, makes for some rather dull tones.
