I Am really searching since a while for a Keyboard/Synthesizer with High quality Acoustic sounds. I'm Looking especially for Pianos with soul (Like the amazing pianos from the Roland Juno Di and Gi), Nice sounding Brasses, Wonderful Bell sounds(Even fantasy ones) and Great Brass sounds.
For now I have been comparing between the Roland Juno Di, The Juno Gi and the Yamaha MOX. I Haven't got enough demos or Haven't been able to try any of them. But from the demos I saw of the Juno's, They have pretty nice sounding sounds, and the Gi has pretty nice features, as the really upgraded Chord memory. Needless to say that the Juno's are really good by having aprox. 1300 presets each, Having lots of acoustic sounds and also some okay sounding Synth ones. My budget isn't too high. I Can't really go Much over 1000 euros. The music I want to create with such a Keyboard is VERY diverse. All kinds of music (Though that for the Synth part, I will get a Korg R3 afterwards, as I have tried it. It's darn Pleasing and Powerful in my opinion). For the Brass, I'm really looking for some Natural sounding ones. Just as Tee Lopes (Teezord) Uses (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBITnBK2zCg&feature=BFa). He said that he Doesn't Use real Instruments. I would really love to know What keyboard (Or even VST or Kontakt Library) can do such sounds. As for the MOX, I just haven't got Enough demonstrations of it's capabilities, and never got to put my hand on one. I really want to hear more of the Pianos, Bells, Basses and Brasses on it. Plus the other instruments. Also, How many Acoustic Presets does it Have? I'm really curious. I want Pretty high quality sounds and I want them to be noticeable on the Music I make. Thanks for reading! |

Listen to Motif XS demos. MOX has the same sounds. Better pianos than Roland's, and some excellent sounds in general.
I'd go with Kurzweil PC3LE6. It may be at the limit of your budget or a bit more expensive, but it's by far (and I mean far) more capable than all of them. ---- "Music is spiritual. The music business is not." - Claudio Monteverdi |

I wouldn't call Roland's pianos "amazing". Especially not from Juno series.
I second Shy's comment, go for a Kurzweil. |

You can always get a deal on a Roland rackmount unit later,
to cherrypick what it's good at.. |

Save up for PC3K, Kronos or wait till Roland do a Jupiter workstation.
But if you are going to be mainly using VSTs then any cheap MIDI keyboard will suffice. |
