Isn't all that content already in Komplete 8 Ultimate? Before Komplete 8 came out, there were already dozens of instruments, sample sets, preset packs, and Reaktor ensembles to draw from. At this point, I think there's only Maschine, Maschine Sample Packs, and that new upright piano to draw from, correct? Maybe they'll be including a software-only version of Maschine? There will definitely be some synth updates coming in K9. I can feel it in the water. Probably two of Massive2, FM9 and some additional Reaktor Instruments... |

I skipped K8, wasn't fussed about the extra sound packs. K9 should be new synths and the the upgrade from K7 should also sweep up the Kontakt and Guitar Rig5 updates I missed by not getting K8. I think EVERYONE should own Komplete. Native Instruments are awesome!! |

There are still some annoying shortcomings of KSP that should to be adressed - and the whole UI is so damn wonky you practically have to live inside Kontakt to get it. Zero overview. But apart from that... K5 was a quite nice improvement over K4 and I can well see an equally important evolutionary step. /C |

dylooooon wrote: Yes, I noticed that just now, too. Very strange and unfortunate. I remember it was around $499 (which might have been a bit more at their webstore) for the ultimate upgrade last year (I believe for all komplete users), but now is $779.00 ($389.50 on sale) for K 2-7 users and $799.00 ($399.50) for crossgrades. At that price, I might as well crossgrade my second copy of Reaktor 2.3. NI seems to play games with loyal customers; I don't get that. But, at least it's 20+% off. Perhaps it's due to the cost of the included hard drive, too; which would be understandable. |

dylooooon wrote: It looks like NI raised the MSRP before, (or for) the sale. I think spending money on their upgrades is only justified if you value having the latest version. I do not think the outdated or soon to be outdated are the best deals. In general, I would skip versions and get the latest release when they come out rather than take advantage of these blow outs just before the next version release. You might spend more money but you will get more and be one step in synch rather than behind. I can see people wanting to spend less and get close but the difference between the new release and last year's in terms of being current, having a couple new components and not being closer to obsolete is worth paying a little more for IMO......and it really is not that much more for the new version over last year's unless they plan on raising the prices significantly. |

No sorry again, NOW it's complete... Apologies I didn't mean that, NOW it's complete, honest! Ad infinitum. Complete just means a single package that contains all of their current products. There is no implication that their products have been refined to the highest possible level. There is no suggestion that their array of products are everything that anyone will ever want or need. The error is that Komplete Ultimate is really the only complete package. A more appropriate name for the basic Komplete would be "Some." |

...ok - looking at today's special offer for upgrading to Komplete 8 I predict that K9 will be released in October and neither Razor, String Sessions nor The Mouth will be part of it...
(The offer is buying or upgrading/crossgrading to K8 and these three will be thrown in for free) |
