I don't know if there are any members from Sweden (and nearby countries) on the forum, but if there are, then I'd really appreciate any help you could give me.
I'm a huge fan of Roger Pontare and I'm collecting all his records, but unfortunately I can't seem to find two of his albums: "I vargens spår" (the 11 track full album, not the 5 track promo) and "Den stora friheten". I've been hunting high and low throughout the internet for months, but to no avail. And yes, I check Tradera daily, too. At this point I'm so desperate that I'm willing to ask for a big favor: could any of you check the local record store (if you have any near your home) or second hand store and see if they have a copy? (contact me before buying it, though! I might have found it in the meantime!) Or maybe you have a copy yourself that you want to sell? As I said, any help appreciated!!! Thanks! ---- . Thank you - yes, I tried a couple of months ago, but unfortunately I got no answer I'd try to contact Pontare himself, but that's basically impossible... The problem is that - like most records and dvds in Sweden - these cds were never reissued and only exist as second hand items... the only hope to find them new is to find some unsold copy in a store, but that's unlikely By the way, I just realized I'm also missing the album "Julens sånger" (I hope the title is correct, I don't speak any Swedish (yet) and I'm using my memory) and the single "Som av is"... This is so gonna be an endless search ---- . My website: http://www.macvibes.com Space Adventures website: http://www.macvibes.com/spaceadventures/ |

Another update, just in case somebody stumbles across this and tries to help: I've found both Den Stora Friheten and the single Som av Is, so now it's only the darn Julens CD I'm missing... ---- . Stockholm is a very nice city after all They don't have the one I need, either, otherwise I'd jump on a plane right now ;-P Anyway, I do believe it is a very nice city, some day I'd love to visit it ---- . http://www.bokborsen.se/Roger-Pontare-Pernilla-Wahlg/Christm as-Time-Is-Here-Again/2087798 I don't have any of the vinyls (I don't have a turntable, so I couldn't listen to them), for now I prefer to concentrate on all that's available on CD. Some day, however, I know I'll try and collect them as well, just to satisfy my compulsive "completism" ;-P Thank you for pointing this out, anyway! ---- . Have you tried getting in touch with second hand stores?
Record Hunter and Mickes are some of the better in Stockholm IMO. |

Is "Julens CD" the same as "Julens Sånger"? The link says it's currently unavailable but I just want to make sure that's what you are looking for. |

I'll certainly contact them, thank you I got Den Stora Friheten from Blue Desert Music in Malmö (excellent service, by the way), that was the biggest I'd found so far. Thanks ---- . Record Hunter and Mickes are some of the better in Stockholm IMO. I got an answer from Record Hunter today, they have the CD I was looking for, so THANK YOU so much!! I really appreciate the help!!! Now my collection is complete (I believe). One question, in case any of you guys can answer: I've began studying Swedish (it looks like a totally crazy and beautiful language!). I was really shocked when I discovered there is no single, standard language, but several dialects. If I'm not mistaken, three of them, being the main ones, can be used as a reference for a student. Now, since I listen to Pontare so much, it'd be a lot easier for me to focus on that pronunciation/dialect/whatever (I could fix the sound of words in my brain more easily) and study based on that. Do you happen to know which dialect he speaks? ---- . My website: http://www.macvibes.com Space Adventures website: http://www.macvibes.com/spaceadventures/ |

Well he's from the north of Sweden so he has a northern dialect, Norrbottniska i believe, (there are plenty more than 3 dialects, hundreds probably) but he sings in a fairly neutral Swedish. You rarely hear someone singing in dialect in Sweden, probably more rare now than it used to be. ---- At school they taught me how to be. So pure in thought and word and deed. They didn't quite succeed. |
