OK,
This is going really good!
I will up some demos very soon.
I have decided I will do 2 products called 2SYN,
a direct to osc freq program,
and MIDI conversion program.
It will be $100AUD each for the proggies,
or 150 for both.
The soft works with Ubertar pickups,
and Roland GK-3 so far.
I'm having a ball making the soft for it.
So yeah,
I am into building hex Strats as well,
for anyone interested.
The soft will be 32-bit,
Windows.
For optimal speed performance with MIDI,
I am pondering stringing a guitar with all high e strings,
and tuning it
E
E
E
E
D#
D#
so the sound of the strings isn't confusing
Cheers!

Here is the current 2SYN playing lead over MIDI.
I have a 1 note delay on there too.

I will do more demos soon.

The device played one wrong note,
I fudged many hehe

It's not using the strat, I can't do it--
there is too much bleed between pickups.
Piezo is definitely the way to go IMO.
How small the compression of the pickups matter must be--wow...nice!

Hey people 8D,
First post in the new forum.
Alright,
so hex pickup Fender copies are on.
I played around with the piezo a little bit,
and it is superior in string separation to the Ubertar pickup.
However-
These are powered.
I have a 9 volt DC wallwart running into mine,
If the wires get crossed somehow,
I will have a 9 volt, .5 amp signal going into my soundcard--
I have decided I don't like this possibility.
After spending many hours tuning a schematic,
I have found that it is possible to track my Ubertar pickup satisfactorily.
I am still working on it,
but yeah- it's gonna be close to flawless.
So-
The VSTfx software is AU$150.
If you want it, pm-Payment by PayPal.
There is no copy protection,
it will remain a functional 32-bit plug.
You will receive all versions of the converter until Phonics ceases.
Here is my first demo as mp3,
will make a better soundcloud one-
but for now here is some piano->

Please post with any questions if you think you'd like to find out more on this MIDI guitar option.

Some advantages it has over Roland->
1.The 6 audio inputs are a regular soundcard,
so u can use it for multi-track recording
2.The software will be updated prolly 4 times a year,
I think GI-20 has had no firmware updates.
It is a dynamic build, that I will be improving as I am using it.
3.VST integration as far as software(the GUI parameters are available in host)
4.You don't have to borg ur guitar if you want the pickup,
it is single coil size.

Some things it lacks to Roland->
1.Velocity-i have not implemented it yet. It is easier than pitch, so should be satisfactory. I will use Bootsy's fast RMS to tell me a fraction after the pluck.

Some advantages over Kitara and Ztar-
1.It is a regular electric guitar, it has the same feel,
so it's not a quasi-guitar.

lacks-
infallible note tracking

Neutrick/Rean are making 7 pin MIDI leads-
They are really nice, the one I am using.
Here u can buy them->
http://www.best-tronics.com/guitar-cabl ... midi7.aspx

I think this product will be successful,
it works darn well,
but the take-up of it is going to be slow with the specialized pickup/
breakout box/6 in soundcard/lead involved.
If you want to be a MIDI guitarist- let me know though.
The product MIDI Guitar is so cool,
they are magicians,
however they don't use the hex advantage.
It will work better IMO- if u r willing to invest in the equipment.
Cheers- hope I get some feedback on the demo.
Will be back with a SoundCloud link.

Heya-
I have velocity working good now-
I am only missing pitch bend.
If you run a hex guitar into an interface-
pls PM me and I will send you the soft to trial.
Have played it so much-
it's really cool.

I've got really nice results out of Akoustik Piano,
with velocity in a high range, intricate dynamics.

Monark is making retro leads.

My synth Entrancer is dirtysweet for techy/modern sounds.

On the last run it played one wrong note in 10 min.

My strat is finished- it's not perfect, i'll call it character.
Will post demos, photos, screens etc. soon

Hi nix808,

Have you visited the vguitar forums? http://www.vguitarforums.com
There is a lot of hex guitar expertise there and they are always interested in new ideas.

What you are doing sounds interesting; Alas, I never have time to try these things out anymore.
This space intentionally left blank

I didn't know about that board- thanks a bundle!
I will join and see if anyone is interested in 2SYN

Here is a screen of the current VSTfx device:-

That's a pity you don't have enough time for music Self-Construct,
if circumstances change,
please get in touch if you want to try it.

Here is Akoustik piano in one take.
I thought it was worse-
but it's actually nearly as good as I can play.
This was before I added velocity.

Post

Did you do this piano by your plugin?

Post

The piano sound itself is Native Instruments Akoustik Piano-
the upright model I think.
These pianos are in NI Kontakt now.
The MIDI sequence is from my plugin,
converting guitar audio into MIDI.

The piano sound is stellar IMO,
really enjoy playing Akoustik piano.
I'll make another demo soon with velocity enabled.

I just calculated latency->
it's 33ms with soundcard buffer included at 256/44100

27ms of that is a buffer which negates the burst of noise which is
the pluck.
