I've seen your comments a couple of times about problems in Reaper. Could please extend on what problems those are? I have not encountered anything yet that does not work, but with Tune. About 50 Waves plugs(a handful not used yet). Tune has a minor thingy since rewire does not connect, so changing position from within Tune does not change main position pointer in Reaper, but everything works perfectly apart from that. But I have not used any sidechaining or more advanced stuff yet. But I'm all with you on the problematic situation with hiding behind not supporting Reaper. I thought I would pause further purchase but I folded on that one since I found it working well - all of it. I don't know that I remember all of them. For one, as I'd add instances, the cpu would get wonky. I'm not exactly sure of the details as it's been a while, but it didn't make sense. Gotta be a thread around here on it, maybe I can find it later. I had issued with looping at times with the buss compressor. There was a noticeable glitch that if you turned it off would go away. Very annoying. I'll try to remember the other later, seems there was one other one that drove me mad. Again, I just remember having these problems and thinking "I don't want to shell for this and waves won't even look into it". It's not as much that the problems were just super serious as much as that. |

For me Waves are the most bug free plugs I ever owned. ---- my music: http://www.soundclick.com/alexcooper “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” |

Using REAPER 4.25 with Waves plugins. No problems here. I did have a problem with them a few years back but it turned out to be a graphics card driver issue. |

H-EQ is a big one for me. The peakhold function makes it a real keeper.
V comp is another go-to but mostly for colour . HLS and PIE as well as L3 for my pseudo mastering jobs. The HLS is great. I love the fact that the mere flick of a switch changes the sound. You do not even need to dial in any bass boost, just turn the switch to 60 or 120 and hear the change. The mid boost/cut switch is the same way. I have been recently looking into more plugin from smaller companies though. Sonimus, Skonte and Toneboosters have some great plugins at sinfully low prices. I bought Satson over NLS! |

C6 multiband compressor, totally under the radar IMO, especially with external side chain per band. ---- Cowbells! |

I noticed that the renchannel has those two as options for the compressor section. The channel doesn't have the other electro/opto and warm/smooth options like the Renaissance Compressor. I assume it's electro/smooth (sounds like shaving lotion) on the rcomp setting.
I've wanted the rchannel since it came out and I think this is the first time it's been on sale. For a long time it wasn't even available separately. So, it's on my short list right now at about $44. I already have renaxx, which can do some nice things as you mentioned, but I may just wait and go for the whole bundle at some point. Interesting. I don't use RChannel much, mostly because I just tend to not use channel strips, and the GUI is too small and fiddly now. But now that I think about it, it is a pretty convenient way to get these 3 plug-ins in a chain. And it offers greater control of the input EQ sidechain, which you won't find on the separate plugs. Well worth $44! I know what you mean about channel strips vs. separates and the small, yet packed, interface. I'll probably go for it before the end of the month, though. Renvox with more controls and the sidechain seems very cool to me. Then there's the other stuff, kind of a Waves Renaissance sampler and Swiss Army knife all rolled into one. I actually seem to be favoring channel strips now, though it may be more of a phase. Sometimes I start with one for a particular track and then move on to separates. Other times, they stick all the way. Yes, I've convinced myself that I need this. |
