The knowledge that the aliens are friendly (or claim to be, at least) is reward enough |

I don't have melodyne but I have decoded the message using a different translator, and I am suitably reassured! Nice one ![]() |

Really had a blast listening to all the entries this month. Here's some short comments I jotted down while working out votes:
satYatunes - Message from PlanetZ Very alien sounding music, and also great to listen to. Excellent rhythm and textures. jjbiener - Winds of l'An-d'Eru Nice execution of a wonderful concept. I would love to visit those caverns someday. Hellfog - In There Great sounds and musical theme, left me wanting more. D.H. Miltz - The Ballad of Sector Six Nice sonic manipulation and a cool little piece of music. forw - Earthling I am tempted to accept the offer from these aliens. Even if it means sharing the tap-dancing secrets of my species. nahkaorava - Henry Keiser From The Outer Space Recently watched 'The Art of the Stompbox' DVD with Nels Cline and Henry Kieser - this playing is way better than Henry's, so, sorry, but I'm not convinced it's really him… peppy197 - Super Earth 9 The blues ain't nothin' but a good alien feelin' bad. Nice one! Laguna Rising - From Outer Space Definitely the work of aliens. Number one with a bullet on intergalactic space radio. mellotronaut - Jazz While the music is indisputably alienesque, the vocals sounded suspiciously human to me… beanpole - Brad Pitt I've always suspected that sometimes what we think are aliens are actually human time-travellers from the future. This helps support that theory. jobromedia - Close encounters Intriguing sounds and composition. Like how it ebbs and flows. Is there a secret message in there? adagiocm - 40 Light Years Away Fun concept. Would have preferred if the aliens spent less time with the re-creation and more time with their own song, as I greatly preferred that part. Irion Da Ronin - Origin of Harmony Great concept of alien mind-controlled sounds. I saw many colors spinning around in my brain while listening. kryptonaut - Contact Nice description of the aliens and why their music sounds the way it does. Also the song serves it's purpose nicely and makes me want to get up and dance with these creatures, though I'm a little afraid I may get stepped on by one of their nine legs. offthewall - The Warning Admirable that after losing his own planet this alien is still interested in helping others. Helps restore my faith in the galaxy. Zombie Queen - Martian Wedding Song True love on Mars… I'm getting weepy. The bride is such a beautiful shade of green! nikp2000 - Spacebillies For some reason it's very easy for me to picture exactly what Spacebillies would look like. Maybe I was abducted once... ChasingAndromeda - In Command Crazy how well funky music and aliens go together. Don't know why the blend works so nicely, but it does. I know I wouldn't be able to resist that funky command! BjornChapman - PlanetX So dubstep is actually the recreation of alien speech patterns? Makes sense to me. gorgorgathgorgorgor - Unknown Transmission Even though I haven't been able to decode it myself (yet!), putting a decodable message into your track was a great idea. robojam - Surfing the Cosmic Waves When I lived in Venice Beach, CA I spent a lot of time with these guys. Love the Hendrix-style jamming (Jimi's my #1 favorite alien!) Patrick9 - Altairian Anthem Beautiful anthem, and wonderful two-headed throat singing concept. milkshake - Colab with Xyxxtkd Really like the melodic themes in this piece. Nice hybrid of alien and traditional instrumentation. bzur - Whales of Enceladus Science fiction and marine mammals are on my short-list of favorite things. (Yes, I admit it, I loved Star Trek IV) thedazed - Alien Space Jam Great other-worldiy sounds and textures, and really fantastic drums. |

![]() I don't think you'd get it from that. When I used the correct 'decoder', the message was very obvious. I would give a clue, but I think that's for gorgorgathgorgorgor to do. Incidentally I also found a hidden message in Zombie Queen's entry - a rather more down-to-earth one! Do any of the other entries contain messages? |

Some insight into my entry. Not trying to get higher votes wink wink This song has 4 parts, each part consists of notes that selects randomly from a list of notes to play. The format is for Nodal 1.8. The { and } indicates that anything from the list is random: { C1:96:100% C2:96:100% G2:96:100% C3:96:100% E3:96:100% G3:96:100% A#3:96:100% C4:96:100% D4:96:100% E4:96:100% F#4:96:100% G4:96:100% A4:96:100% A#4:96:100% C5:96:100% D5:96:100% E5:96:100% F#5:96:100% G5:96:100% A5:96:100% A#5:96:100% C6:96:100% } Here comes a preview of the Nodal screen:
Nodal then sends out the MIDI data via Loop MIDI to Cantible Lite. There 4 instances of Zebra receives the notes from Nodal. The result is recorded through Guitar Rig 4 and saved as a .wav file. |
