Sorry if this was covered earlier, but although I am loving MUX and it nearly meets my needs, I really need it to be able to output midi to another device within Studio One. Other plugins that output midi like Kirnu arp for example by default are displayed as a midi input for other tracks. If MUX had this behavior I would be thrilled. I've tried enabling and Event Output but am not sure how that works exactly. Any idea what i can do to make this work?

Have you tried to use the MUX instead of MUX Synth?
By default MUX comes with Event in/out and Audio in/out. Mux Synth defaults with Event in and Audio in/out.
IIRC Cubase handled midi out from a MUX with Event in and Event out OK.
Need to double check later.

I did try that, but I'll double check again later in case i did something wrong.

Nope, still doesn't show, and besides I think it wouldn't get what I'm after as I'm trying to get midi output from VST midi-generating instruments.

Ok i re-installed the S1 demo in order to check this. Now i'm having some practical trouble using S1: When i try to drop a MIDI FX onto a new track it automatically makes an audio track for that, and i can't create a MIDI sequence for it. How do you put a MIDI FX on a track so that i can send notes to that MIDI effect?

And parrallel question: Please describe step by step, starting from a new S1 song, what you want to do. Or make a screencast of doing it using Kirnu arp.

The way Studio routes midi-generating VST instruments like Kirnu is it goes on its own track and then is selectable as an input for any other instrument tracks. So in the example above, Kirnu is on the first track, with 'All Inputs' selected so it receives midi from my keyboard.

Diva is on the second track, and has Kirnu selected as the input for that track. When both tracks are armed, you will hear Kirnu driving Diva.

You can see this takes two tracks to make happen, and if you want the midi plugin to drive more than two synths, you are routing and arming many tracks and it gets weird.

What I want to do is wrap Kirnu and Diva inside a MUX (along with other stuff) so it only takes one track. (This works fine BTW). The only thing is I want the ability to send the output from the MUX to a new track to record it so that I have editable midi data instead of a real-time arp.

Basically along the lines of the screenshot I would have MUX on track one, and an empty midi track on track two receiving midi from MUX, and the ability to record that output. Then I would drag the midi from track two onto the MUX track and disable the arp so the midi directly plays the instruments.

I hope that is clear Smile The only issue is that currently MUX doesn't show up as an input for other tracks. Whatever system exists with other VST instruments that send midi data is not enabled on the MUX output. Getting that enabled I guess is what I need.

Thanks for considering this, I really appreciate it. I have a lot of pain in my hands and so use transposer to rekey my keyboard to other scales so I can more easily play them, and use arps a lot to do what my fingers can't. Being able to wrap this stuff up in a MUX is great and being able to capture the midi output would be wonderful.

Sorry to hear about the pain.

Does this one do the trick?

That works exactly perfectly! You have a sale sir, as soon as I can come up with the cash Smile I'll be singing MUX's glories, I promise! Thanks a lot for the excellent support! IMO this is now a must-have, especially for hosts like Studio One that have some weird routing issues!

BTW I really appreciate how well MUX works with JBridged plugins. One of my favorite plugins is CK Pattern Arp Plus, a Synthedit arpaggiator, and it was behaving really strangely in Studio One, requiring three whole tracks to get working correctly! Inside MUX it doesn't have such issues, and it just works like I am used to and inside the MUX of course it becomes an incredibly powerful tool. It even matches MUX's UI pretty well, some amber font, anyhow MUX is slick, and big THANK YOU because this really solves most of what I find lacking in Studio One. I can't say enough how cool this is!
