This is a comparison test made by Mr CoolColJ, the happy owner of a Jupiter 8, between his synth in mint condition, and .... Oxium.
CCJ Jupiter 8 Vs Oxium A CCJ Jupiter 8 Vs Oxium B The Jupiter 8 has been recorded thru Lynx Hilo. So pretty transparent. According to CCJ, Oxium and the Jupiter 8 have a lot in common. BIG THANKS to CCJ for having taken the time to make this little A/B test LtZ ---- www.lelotusbleu.fr Soundbanks for Vsti 5000+ Instruments for 23 Vstis, 8 Sound Designers, Hours of audio Demos. A seems to sound a bit 'cleaner', B more 'processed'. |

A sounds more juicy, organic. B sounds more dry, straight, a bit synthetic and somewhat more predictable. The sound is pretty close though. Not sure if this is another guessing game, but i guess A is the Jupiter-8. |

Im running it in Live 8 on osx.7. Any one else come across this issue? Do you have Live 8.3.3, the latest version. If not, try that update. Might help. edit: Oh, forgot to add that I do not have that issue in Live8.3.3 on mac os 10.6x Last edited by mcnoone on Sat Aug 04, 2012 5:16 am; edited 1 time in total |

B has this dull Oxium sound
A sounds more organic. It's Diva or the real Jupiter |

IMO the effect of bad speakers is highly exaggerated. |

Im running it in Live 8 on osx.7. Any one else come across this issue? Sorry to hear that and thanks for getting it. Le Masque will have more presets in the next update. Did you try to save your own Le Masque patterns, then reload it ? Anyway thanks for the report this will hopefully be fixed in the next update. Thanks Penguin, and to all people commenting the Jupiter 8-Oixum comparison sofar. I'll just quote the comment CoolCOlJ himself wrote together with the clips : "JP8 vs Oxium - They are not exactly the same, but pretty similar overall in a general character way. I forgot which file is which JP8 was recorded straight to the Lynx Hilo, so pretty transparent as you can get " And how I read/understood it when I first discover the audio clips : Something like : "Both clips sound very similar, and if it was that easy to tell the difference, I would probably remember wich one is wich in the two clips." Just an interpretation though. Everyone can also make his own interpretation of CCJ words./ As for me, I cant tell wich one is Oxium, and wich one is the real JP8, listening to the whole clips : At the end of each clip, they tend to sound -imho- dangerously similar. I also would like to thank once more CCJ, but also a lot Ingo Weidner -Ingonator in KVR- , because its his JP8 Brass Patch in Oxium factory library, combined with the feeling that I had that it was quite easy to approach sounds derived from models like the Silverbox, or the JX3p, wich gave me the idea to look after a real Jp8 owner, and see what could eventually come out of a real comparison. Ingo's JP8 patch did really remind me of the JP8 character, but as I dont have a real JP8, I then was really happy to find CoolColJ, and very lucky that he could even be interested in Oxium, and into taking some of his time to make such little tests. Would be nice if you could tell which is which. I mean that's the essence of what an A/B comparison is there for i guess. |

A sounded a lot better than B, its very obvious. I don't know why Xils Lab went and did another analog sounding synth, when I heard they were going to do a modern synth I was very excited because the quality of there products is top notch but I was disappointed, I tried to like it, I even love the gui and colors but with Diva around there is no need for this ---- I love music but more than that, I love making it |

Yes I should've added that to me both sound good. They have just different character, A sounds definitely more 'dirty' with the resonance and filter, that's why I thought it would be the Jupiter. It has very Roland sound that I recognize, I've played Jupiter-8 on many occasions and own some of the Juno synths among others. Oxium is not obviously meant to be Jupiter emu but can get reasonably close.. ---- Developers! Developers! Your plug-ins should be circuit modeled!!! It's the shizzz!
