This is probably of greater interest to those using OSX, but it might also serve others as well. Even though I kow a lot of you keep your DAW offline there are quite a few of you that are on laptops and might find some of this interesting as well.
I was listening to This Week In Tech and the part of the conversation of interest start @ 4:20. The part that I found the most interesting was the part that Apple seems to have played in this situation. I used this link from the RSS feed to download the file. http://www.podtrac.com/pts/redirect.mp3/aolradio.podcast.aol .com/twit/twit0365.mp3 The main site. http://twit.tv/twit |

Wow. A system is only as strong as its weakest link, which is obviously some poor underpaid Apple tech support person with too much access in this case. No matter how careful YOU are, your security is in the hands of lots of other people and companies these days... |

True. I would never knowingly authorize that type of remote access for any of my machines. |

Can't listen at the moment, is this the Mat Honan case?
http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2012/08/apple-amazon-mat-hona n-hacking/ An amazing sequence of events, I guess the lesson is cool as all this Cloud voodoo is, physical local backups still rule. ---- ()_() (O.o) (")(") |

Amazon screwed up big, Apple screwed up big, and the user screwed up big. No back-ups of the laptop? e-mail accounts tied together? Yikes. |
