I'd just use it in ST Free, if I were you. More flexible, and you even get access to CSR Reverb as an effect, which I don't believe you get in the older Sampletron engine. The older engines don't seem to really be supported by IK anymore.

I was about to post this very question. do I need to still have sampletron installed, or can I uninstall and just load the samples into ST? and will the combis from esoundz still work? thanks.

I believe that is a yes. You just need to put the combis in the ST directory and make sure it can see the samples. I don't think you need SampleTron installed at all.

thanks a bunch. will try that out.

A little alley oop on that one, Michael2!

After you put your main SampleTron folders in the Sampletank Instruments folder, hit the relist button on the right side of the browser, then give it a minute or so to update the ST directory. The more content, the longer, so don't worry.

Then, after all the current libraries show up in the main browser, click the Prefs button and de-select Relist on Start-up. This will speed up your ST loading times greatly when you first open it!

You can always hit the Relist button when you need to, but you only need to when you add new stuff. Like SampleTron!

There's usually a one day grace period on these sales, so act fast, it's a really timeless set at a scary good price.

And buy at eSoundz for almost another whole GB of tron goodness FREE. And refer someone for epointz when you check out, there's lots of great folks here that deserve 'em!

I have listened to all presets a couple of times and I love them Smile Though I think the "Piano-like" presets are ok, one or two more pianos wouldn't hurt (not that I know there were any made for tron instruments).

The Optigan and Talentmaker patches are some of the coolest things ever.

Oooh man would I like to see the complete Optigan library in a VST.

I'm REALLY liking the new Sampletank 3 GUI Smile

oh wait... yeah the library is great! Any news on a free version of ST3? I think your old policy is the best policy, ie free application and paid libraries, so please consider my opinion, I'm sure I'm not alone.

I wish I would have know about the special from ezsounds with the extra presets and combis - oh well.

Having a blast listening to all of it. I saw a YouTube video of Sir Paul McCartney showing the audience how a Mellowtron works. I nearly fell over when I hit upon the same loops he was playing on stage! I've already used this in my latest tune called mothers here: http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?PID=1455900&t=4672

Yeah, Integratron, any time IK has a big sale, always check there. You'll get epointz AND jampoints and they have a loyalty discount too, so the more stuff you buy, the cheaper it gets.

And some of the bonuses you can't get anywhere else, like the Miroslav Outtakes that added really nice articulation "frosting" and some expressive solo strings and woodwinds to MPO.

But if the IK pattern holds true, either Sampletank XL or Miroslav will be on sale for $29 next, so maybe the Outtakes could be resurrected for the latter. It really is a useful group of sounds that are every bit as good as good as the original.

Yeah, sure, as long as you can load legacy ST combis and libraries Smile I wouldn't mind being able to demo and buy just a sitar patch that I need, for example. I don't know how that would work for you guys but I like the idea of an integrated store where you can pick and choose just what you need.

I like the sounds a lot.
I can't get my sampletank free registered to hear the other sounds that were included from the esounds deal.
The IK authorize tool repeats updating, going back and forth from 1.0.6 to 1.0.7, but none of them, after installing and uninstalling many times, will get past the "update" notice, to authorize it.
Any ideas on how to fix that?

I'm on mac os10.6.8
It's odd though that I authorized Sampletron with auth tool 1.0.7, but then sampletank free auth tool, says I need to update it.

this is what allen asked me to check

hd > library > app support > ik multimedia > sampletank > prefs >

then right-click "ST2 Pref" , and choose 'get info' from the menu

you want to make sure that all 3 sets of permissions are set to "read & write"

i ended up having to re-download sampletank (as it was not working with the older), installing, then re-downloading the auth manager (1.07) and it finally worked

I already have EVE 3 by wuzikstation and the presets of the mellotrons really sound raw and vintage in a terrific way but I am wondering if it would be worth getting more since I already more or less have my mellotron needs catered for with it, or is sampletron superior?
