I am looking for a sample collection of the Fairlight CMI. I only want all the RAW samples. not new versions of the old stuff. just a RAW sampling from the original Fairlight CMI.

It would be ideal if I could find a sample set of it that will load in Kontakt or something..

are all the samples in the original Fairlight CMI just one sample per bank? and all other notes stretched? if so.. I could just get a wave sample set of each patch and load them in any sampler.

anyone know?

Yes the original Fairlight I and II only had one sample per sound.

There are actually several collections of the Fairlight II library floating around. The one listed above I believe originated on sampling CD from the 90s. They were sampled from the outs of a Fairlight into another sampler or DAW I presume.

The one below has been put into Kontakt format already - they may be the same samples as above - I'll have to check

The collection below I like the best. They were extracted straight from the Fairlight disk images - not sampled from one machine to another. The advantage of this is that they are an exact copy of the file the Fairlight would have in memory (except they have been converted to 16 bit.)

The drawback is there are no loops set - you have to loop them yourself. There are no names on the samples, just numbers. And since they were digially exported, if you will, they haven't picked up the sonic quality of the Fairlights analog outs and filters.

I have taken them and tweaked them in Kontakt in various ways, exported larger (believe it or not the Fairlight II had 1/2 second sampling time at full res) pimped out, multisampled wavs and imported them into my Emulator II - pretty damn good results!
