Wow, the sound and the look of this has been totally nailed. Obviously it can do glitchy rhythms and effects, but the way it bitcrushes synths and the control you have over the process is really delicious. And I like that winding the clock down to zero sounds like a tape stop mixed with samplerate reduction.
This now lives in my "shredding" folder along with Geometer, AOM Wave Shredder, Delta Modulator, and some obscure thing that lets you turn off or invert bits of the input signal. One thought did occur to me in the way of features - the ability to dial in some mild grungy resonance on the filter section. I'm thinking broad and shallow, not self-resonating, but I doubt that's even needed, really. |

Magnus here.
I have to say I am totally overwhelmed by all the enthusiasm in this thread! Amazing. To think I almost didn't make this plug-in because I feared it would turn out too bizarre. Boy am I glad I didn't pay attention to the sceptic in me. Btw, I saw a few support questions in this thread. If you want official answers from me or Fredrik the easiest would be if you post your questions on the Sonic Charge forum. (You don't have to be a registered member to write in the "Support" section.) @BRoySound: Absolutely terrific track! Well done! Is there any chance we could feature this as an official demo on our site? If so, please PM me here or contact us via the support form on our site. (We don't like the SoundCloud quality either, so we would prefer hosting the mp3 ourselves.) Thanks again everyone for your support and love. |

@BRoy - you've out Devo'd Devo with that one. (For some reason it reminded me of mid-80s Devo...) |

There is some cool stuff in there, but it seems like it's another glitch in a box. I do like the quality sound though. I'm using the demo at the moment and I understand your comment, the glitch side of things to me do sound very similar to the results I get when using CHAOS in stylus RMX, however I'm pretty certain I'll pull the trigger on this one. |

Last night I discovered the internal patches in the OS, and it took me a while to realise they actually do stuff to the front panel and change the plugin's function entirely. It was only when I closed the text interface and I saw all the extra tape that I twigged it. Is there any way to save this functionality on a per-patch or per-bank basis?
Also, would a buiscuitting patch be at all viable in Permut8? Something where you can flip or destroy all 12 bits of the internal stream? I have a plugin that does this but it's just a quick thing someone threw together. I'm sure it'd sound and look a lot better coming from this black box of tricks |

Patched firmware used can be saved and recalled with bank/preset...its a lot of fun, I noticed that the bank/program, even loading whole new banks and switching is almost seamless even with different firmware. ---- E and O Excepted |

Ah damn it! I take off my headphones and turn the volume up. Maybe it wasn't broken after all, though i can swear something smells burnt. And my dog has become really whiny now and want's to go out, even though it's an hour early. ---- Mulab-MUX-Diversion-TX16Wx-SKNOTE-Charlatan-Valhalla-GordonSmith-YamahaTHR10-Trackspacer-TheDrop/Glue-Drumaxx-VOS-DC8C [i5 2500K @ 4,3GHz] [8Gb DDR3] [200Gb+ SSD][M-Audio Delta 24/96 PCI] |

I was waiting all weekend for a free moment to try out the demo. I honestly didn't think I was going to be that impressed, but after five minutes with the demo, I was pulling out my credit card!
I had noticed the terminal window in the promo video, and wanted to check that out. I came to this thread looking for the username and password, expecting the whole thing to just be a silly little easter egg. If I'm understanding this correctly, the entire plugin is actually the front end of an emulation of an 8 bit computer, complete with its own OS?!? If I didn't need to get up and go to work in a few hours, I'd spend all night playing around in the terminal window. As it stands now, I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow night. Doh! ---- Incomplete list of my gear: Microsoft Windows XP |
