What is your favorite vocal effects program? I'm looking for a program that does effects processing for vocals, and I'd like to know the pros & cons of your favorite apps. My requirements are:
I need to be able to work completely within the iPad itself. I'd like to be able to import my song as a backing track, and then be able play it while recording my vocal track, and be able to add effects. A prime example is how ampkit works. Advice please? --Sean ---- C/R, dongles & other intrusive copy protection equals less-control & more-hassle for consumers. Company gone-can’t authorize. Limit to # of auths. Instability-ie PACE. You could try VocaLive from IK Multimedia, it has audio import and a recording function plus some nice effects. ---- simon |

Yeah, that was the one I was looking at, but wanted to explore my options first. I was looking at Improvox as well, and wanted to get opinions.
Please people, don't stop posting ideas and comments--I am still shopping around. --Sean ---- C/R, dongles & other intrusive copy protection equals less-control & more-hassle for consumers. If you wanna get cray, try voice synth. Then, using audio paste, sample your vocals and effect them more in stuff like Samplewiz. Sheer madness. |

That would definitely allow for a lot of possibilities! I'm actually looking for more standard vocal stuff. I bought the IK Amplitube last night since it was on a 50% off sale, and their vocal package was only a couple of dollars more, so I went ahead and bout the IK vocal effects bundle. However, I'm definitely looking for more vocal options! Thanks! Please everyone, continue to suggest more apps. --Sean ---- C/R, dongles & other intrusive copy protection equals less-control & more-hassle for consumers. Company gone-can’t authorize. We have a free version, so you can try it out risk free. |

I tried the vocalive presets, and most of them were saying I didn't have x effect, and then offered to let me buy it. I find this strange, since I bought the package. It's almost as if the vocalive patches require components from other packages. What's up with that? --Sean ---- C/R, dongles & other intrusive copy protection equals less-control & more-hassle for consumers. Company gone-can’t authorize. Limit to # of auths. Sean, some of the presets require the Reverb, Parametric Equalizer and/or Compressor, which have to be purchased separately. |

I would seriously consider looking at Auria, especially just for the purpose of recording vocals. For $50, you get two reverbs (including a convolution reverb), really good EQ, really good compressors and limiters, Chorus, Delay, an AutoTune effect, AND (as a bonus) a full-featured 48-track DAW To get anywhere close to the same thing in VocaLive you'd have to spend around $35 ($20 for the app, $15 for the multitrack recorder IAP I believe) and you wouldn't get the full automation and DAW features of Auria. I've got nothing against IKM products (I own almost all of them), but in this case Auria has them beat. |
