Ultimately isn't a DAW really the equivalent of a 'workstation.'? So I would say workstations are Studio One, Cubase, Logic, etc. even Garageband. Sampletank etc. are samplers, ROMplers, synths etc but not workstations in my mind.

Ableton Live is an excellent software workstation

Hypersonic 2 is the gold standard.

Don't bother looking. You won't find one.

Some say Halion Sonic is as good. I don't know.

Next to that, Wusikstation. 16 part multi-timbral, massive sound library, albeit not as efficiently programmed as by the wizoo boys. But still lots of nice drums, pads, etc..

But yeah also Korg M1 - 8 part multi-timbral. Massive sound library including all the best Akai drum sounds you could wish for. Includes the sound cards for the T1 too.

In fact, buy the Wavestation and the MS20 and the PolySix and the MonoPoly too.

Only the M1 is 8-part multi-timbral though.

And the Legacy Cell only caters for the MS-20 and PolySix. It doesn't let the MonoPoly or the Wavestation play. Shame.

I can't find a price for it. I searched for about half an hour and it just doesn't give one.

All I know is I paid more for the M1 and the Wavestation and the MS20 and the PolySix and the MonoPoly, than you would for the whole Wusikstation.

It costs a lot to buy the Korg synths by themselves, but they are a bargain when you buy them in a bundle.

My choice: Buy them both. You won't ever need to buy another synth or sample library ever again. Did that help?

The Korg M1 Legacy costs $49. I love how 80s/early 90s it sounds.

Seriously, I don't think people realise you are getting the full AKAI drum library with the M1 - thousands of Akai sounds. Through 8 channels with individual effects plus two bus effects on top. And they sound mint coming through that bus. It's a steal.. We are robbing them blind really.

I will tell you exactly where they are in a minute when I fire up the computer I have in the next room because, Korg, silly little boys they are, have hardwired their copy protection to the ethernet and wireless connections.

ok, but dude, tell me you dont use the crappy effects that are attached to every preset its a little stupid at times i mean even the bass patches are drenched in reverb. if you go to global, you can turn off all the effects both on insert and master. of course if you do, that cool but me, i turn off all the effects on insert/master and use plugins.

If it helps, I upgraded my Halion 3 to Halion 4(Contains all Halion Sonic) and I'm very happy with it...some of the analogue synth patches are superb...

Eh dude, I don't know if you are talking to me, but if you are. I like the way you work it. Of course I would never work it that way. Your way is best. But sometimes, as a master yourself, I am sure you will appreciate, you need to know the rules, to break the rules.

I'd really love to try halionsonic but can't afford it. I'm sure if it is based on the same tech then you can't go wrong. Hypersonic holds a kind of mythical status amongst those that have tried it. I would pay a thousand pounds for it btw if anyone wants to sell.
