Yes. ---- Firebird+ is a must. SonicCore SCOPE is the most. As heart of studio it has my vote, cause XITE-1 is all she wrote. |

I really like the concept of this plugin. All the essential tools inside one shell.
I had to download the demo and I am very impressed. I could replace a whole bunch of tools with alloy. Good sound, very useful GUI and low CPU usage. When everything else except dynamics2 is enabled one instance uses 0,9% of cpu on my 3930k @ 96khz samplerate. Not bad considering how many tools it has built in I remember trying the V1 and this seems to be a very big improvement overall. Demoing Alloy 2 made me regret some of my plugin purchases. |

Besides my DAW, Alloy is my most-used plugin. I don't use Ozone on every tune, but I do use Alloy every time. The graphical all-in-one is hard to beat. It has had some weaknesses, in the past the transient shaper and exciter for example. Now some say the de-esser, but I haven't used it yet so have no opinion on that. ---- Google sees you when you’re sleeping, it knows when you’re awake. I totally agree that the exciter could be better. It's the only thing I find lacking in this plugin. |

So the exciter in Alloy or Ozone isn't going to replace any of my distortion, tube, tape, or console simulators... that's for sure.
But I use it all the time because none of the simulators provide multiband support like they have in Alloy and Ozone. And in lots of cases, the exciter hits the spot. I've used it to great effect combined with the stereo imager plugin from Ozone 5 to make really dirty synth bass lines which don't conflict with my vocals. I do this by driving the exciter in the low bass range for some really raunchy distortion, but in that same range, I use the stereo imager to really narrow the stereo field to dead center mono. Because as we know we want our sub bass to be right in the center. I have a little stereo spred on the low mids and mids, but reduce the exciter level way down so that it's not too busy as we start to get into the vocal range, and as they get higher into the "vocal intelligibility range" I progressively widen the sound. I still add a lot of nice edginess with the exciter at the very top end, but the stereo field is so wide that the vocals (centered, as you'd expect) aren't bothered. You can hear this in Hurricane: http://lightsfadelow.com/track/hurricane The sound that you hear that is a little like a synth bass and a little like a distorted guitar all in one is one instrument that I crank up the distortion and the imager on. It's really nasty and dirty... and I love it. |

But I use it all the time because none of the simulators provide multiband support like they have in Alloy and Ozone. Fabfilter Saturn is a multiband saturation plugin. It works pretty good. |

When you put it on a mono track it doesn't work? If not I'm sure it's a bug that iZotope would fix. |
