Soundiron's brand new Rust 3 collection is the latest installment in our classic metallic percussion and effects series. This new volume explores powerful bass and rich musical tonality, performed on a huge variety of surfaces, objects, oddities, apparatuses and custom contraptions. Each instrument was recorded up-close and dry, in a wide stereo configuration to capture every subtle of resonant overtone. It offers unique alternative 'drum kit' concepts, warm and melodic tuned percussion, dramatic stinger and cinematic/horror effects and a wealth of lead, pad and ambient sustained instruments.

With over 100 unique sound sets, plus numerous sustaining and effect elements covering a full spectrum of metallic flavors, Rust 3 is designed to be easy to use and creatively inspiring in any musical and sound design application.

We've just added a walk-through video that Gregg created to go with his naked demo, "The Sound of Iron Oxides". Check it out:

Check out our demos. Tracks labeled "solo" feature Rust 3 all by itself.

The user interface provides real-time control over every detail of the sound. Note attack and start offset can be shaped to create ghostly pad-like sounds. The Release control tightens the sound into a sharp staccato click or ping. The Uberpeggiator system allows adaptive arpeggiations. Most presets also feature tempo-syncing resonant filter and volume LFOs with waveform selection, parametric EQ and convolution reverb effects, with 50+ room and FX impulses to choose from.

The Mega Mixer system allows the user to select and dynamically load any of the 100+ percussive instruments into 10 independent modules, with custom key-range, tuning and mapping. This allows custom ensembles, drum kits and tuned percussion orchestras to be created on-the-fly.

The Layer Builder presets each feature 12 independent sonic layers, with free parameter control over each, generating truly unique hybrid tuned percussion instruments that can be manipulated in real-time. The Tuned Selector presets provide instant access to each collection of solo elements, with easy browsing and automatable voice selection. The standard ensemble presets lay it all out in convenient ready-made drum-kits. The Rustains, Drone Rig and Rumbiences sustain arrays provide a complete selection of fluidly organic tonal and atmospheric sounds. Two freely selective layers can be smoothly blended, with optional polyphonic legato.

Not specifically in the demos, but there's definitely a lot of content like that in the "Punch Pipes" and "Digging Ditches" sections of Rust 3.

We've also just added a walk-through video that Gregg created to go with his naked demo, "The Sound of Iron Oxides".
