Whatever you do don't step out of line at EW Forums- instant deletion if you say anything contrary to what they want to hear. I really don't like EastWest at all and now they fired their main creative Nick, I think (hope) their days are numbered. ---- .. |

Hmm deletion in general makes me wonder and suspicious. Happy customers wouldn't post nasty comments on a page and if they do, there's obviously some issue that should be addressed, and not deleted. ---- Cowbells! |

I remember when Vienna Ensemble Pro was just out. Play did not work in it, at all.
Now, Duck Rodgers had a general plan for a software interface that would, somehow, supposedly make the old server farm way of connecting midi to slave machines and porting audio back better. However it still involved a sound card to connect to and from on every slave. VE Pro does not; there is a single CAT6 cable required to make LAN the connection. Rodgers hated the idea, a terrible idea that can't work as far as he was concerned. It must be noted that his idea has never come to fruition. I posted a completely colorless question about it in an appropriate subforum. It got quickly moved to the hardware forum, with a stern warning; where proper talk of such things, following his idea, belonged. EWQL Play working in VE Pro is no question of hardware. Anecdotally, I saw more than one person report their posts were deleted as per this subject. He lied about the interaction between the two vendors more than once in that time frame. It turns out this had to be fixed, unilaterally, at the EWQL end. They weren't talking with VSL. You'd think they're big enough to be more magnanimous about things. They clearly are not. |

It's not surprising. In fact, we've had it happen right here on this very forum (anyone remember plugsoundpro/UVI? ) That was really bad too. Apple used to do this, don't know if they still do. I can't remember other places that have done this, but know they were there. It only happens here with spam that I know of now. |

I know it happens on Avid/M-audio forums, as well as torq (under M-audio), and every now and again NI. ---- I run a netlabel http://oligopolistrecords.bandcamp.com Free chill, hip-hop, lo-fi, ambient, experimental, for you! (Send me demos too!) |

I am not surprised to read this.
If I recall correctly, there was a thread criticizing their products a few months ago on here and one of their staff chipped in and came across very badly. So much so that I wouldn't buy anything from them. Not that I could afford it anyway. |

Yeah, I've never bought any of their stuff. For one thing, they most certainly do not allow license transfer. Sure, not everyone does but considering they have a closed system, it would be a drag for it not to work out (plus what the OP is saying) |

Interesting to know. I was considering purchasing Complete Composers Collection from East West later this year, but spending that sort of money on a product with that sort of support is a little troubling.
I can confirm that Native Instruments definitely do the same sort of thing on their forums. I mentioned something about their poor support in a thread that was already complaining about bad support and the entire thread dissapeared. I think it's fair enough to complain when it takes a month to get a reply and the reply is a one sentence smart-assed reply that doesn't answer any of my queries. Especially when my email gave detailed descriptions of the problems I was having ordering from them and I also took the time to give them the exact error messages I was getting from their site. On the plus side I can also say that Heavyocity and Sample-Logic were both very quick to reply to my queries. Just so it's not all negative. Sorry if I've gone off track. |

No, I think you are right. I've seen that from the NI boards as well. Now, I rarely frequent them (even though I've been there since about the time I've been here) but I think I've seen that. Then again, there are some whine o ramas over there.
Many moderators have a "personal" opinion of things and moderate accordingly. That's why I like D.H and Bluedad, they don't seem to do that. Nobody is perfect, but alas.....I'll say my mind. Anyways, in some ways it's the nature of the beast. |

NI has put up with a whole lot of stuff on their boards though. At times, there are a couple of kind of zealous mods - one of which is an ace Reaktor builder, 'Sowari' - but during the early days of The Kore Debacle they let people vent for days without being too heavy handed.
EW is a whole nother story. I will absolutely not purchase from them. I have two things from them and they are both really underperformers compared with the competition in the point of price. I don't have any bad support tales from them. I needed installation support as I didn't immediately grasp the difference between the installation and the iLok problem I expeerienced, and they were fast and thorough. But one of their top guys lying about shit? Hell no. |

Agreed about NI forums- they did let the the 'Kore debacle thread' run to highly critical levels, though they do get it wrong sometimes and delete when they shouldn't.
The thing about EastWest is I don't even get a chance to reply as I'm now banned- no warning, no second chance. The post, ironically, was about the reasons why they delete posts and whether we could have a discussion about it! Clearly not. ---- .. |

well, generally that's a good way to get moderators against you. I was banned from a site for arguing about moderation, in fact breaking the rules I agreed to follow, and more than once.
you wouldn't get away with it very many times here. once and you're out seems a little severe though. |
