D'loaded and installed but i can't play with it 'cause it needs an activation code that i can't find anywhere.
First, they write to me in the dload link email: Quote: If no activation code is provided here, you can run your trial version without activation right after the installation. But then, when i launch the daw i must have eLicense installed (otherwise it report a DCOM error) and it shows an alert: Quote: No valid license detected for Retrologue
I've decided to use only legit software but i wonder why sometimes it is way more problematic than to use cracked software. In fact, I am messing with eLicenser since a couple of hours (install, uninstall, check this, check that) without any result. I am very disappointed with Steinberg and i really hate eLicensers. Other software houses (Ableton, Audio Damage, U-HE, D16,....) that i've tried gave to me flawless experiences, this one is my first with Steinberg and i am afraid that it will be the last. It's a shame 'cause retrologue looks and sounds nice. Last edited by alphadelphi on Fri Sep 21, 2012 11:58 am; edited 2 times in total |

This worked smoothly for me, but looks like I do have a license now on my eLicenser. I think they have idiotically not mentioned that you do need one to demo this product.
I have to agree: Steinberg is not very good at the demo thing. Used to be you need to create a Steinberg account and dig into menus to find the demos (I think you still do for Cubase/WL). Can't blame anyone for being put off, especially if they don't have an eLicenser. ---- ![]() |

Not a product, but the elicenser, I think. I believe there's a way to license to your hard drive too... ---- ![]() |

No, you don't have to have a Steinberg product to demo retrologue. I've demoed it and I don't own a single Steinberg product. You DO have to install the software e-licenser (part of the usual install, I believe) before the demo will work. You don't need a registration number, but it will check to make sure that e-licenser software was installed. You *do not* have to have a hardware key. |

I had a lot of problems with this too - the solution seemed to be uninstalling, then trying again but ensuring I only installed for the current user rather than all users. HTH |

Hi everyone,
Sorry to hear that some of you are having problems with installing the Retrologue trial. We at Steinberg have not yet heard about the issues you are describing and the trial was already downloaded and installed several thousand times in the last couple of weeks. But we understand that it can be frustrating when you are excited to try a synth and you can't get it running. Actually you don't need a USB eLicenser dongle to run the trial. Retrologue is protected by a software eLicenser and the trial license is installed automatically. So it should be up and running right after the installation. Please have a little more patience while we are trying to figure out what this is all about. Cheers from Hamburg, Matthias ---- Matthias Quellmann - Product Marketing Manager VSTi Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH Hamburg, Germany |

Actually, I need to correct myself: I just noticed that the Retrologue trial is licensed to my hard drive, not the USB key.
So what you need is to install the eLicenser software; you don't have to buy a USB key or anything like that. ---- ![]() |
