There does seem to be one quite interesting bug that has shown itself to some-including me.
It is a curious thing. It will not 'paint' the entire GUI of the effect you choose on the PC...hence a lot of grey shows up instead. Apparently it has been a repeatable bug so there will be a 'fix' for that once they figure out what it is that is causing that one... In the meantime...if you find yourself staring at this wondering where in blazes LP67 is..close the project and reopen it..it appears in all its majesty... ---- Barry The man who survived mustard gas and pepper spray is now a seasoned veteran http://www.ambientonline.org/ |

I wonder why Cakewalk didn't look into ARA, I guess they don't want anything to compete with V-Vocal I guess that seems logical however Melodyne is a lot easier for me to get my head around be nice if was integrated like S1 , oh well maybe next time not really a deal killer. I think I'll wait a little while longer before I upgrade anyway. |

Congrats, Cake. Does seem so... in fact, I said I wouldn't jump in till the first revision or patch is out... but with the last video Seth did, showing the improvements in the piano roll (that was a big pita for me!) and the grid (I would still like smaller grids in the piano roll though!! Make it happen please CW!), I'm thinking I might get in on this soonish. |

I had a dropout today - no reason for it at all with my powerful rig. I haven't seen a dropout since X1d was released.
Also had a weird thing happen where when recording or playing, the now time marker was jerking across the screen - not smooth. Had to reboot and it stopped. That was a first. No idea what was going on but X1 was very stable for me since v.d. So this could be a step back in stability. Or it could just have bveen a Windows fluke. Too early to tell. I'll keep posting anything weird I notice... ---- Google sees you when you’re sleeping, it knows when you’re awake. I'm a long time CW user. I've gone as far as to get the VS700 and the VS100 surfaces.
I'm honestly on the edge of leaving CW products though. X1 was a great DAW and the new interface was fantastic, but it seems like CW has more a priority of putting out new products than fixing bugs that have plagued Sonar for years. Plus, they are falling way behind... No VST3 support? Notation is still a joke. Latency issues are still very much present. Audiosnap 2 was meant to make life easier, but I found it a huge mess to work with. The time stretching algorithm is a joke as is BPM detection on clips. Forget about remixing because they have taken something that other DAWs have managed to do with a single step and complicated it to the point where you throw your hands in the air and walk away in frustration. With X2 now out, I'm weighing my options carefully, but the more I think on it the more other DAWs are looking attractive. |

I stopped using Sonar some two years ago but I kept upgrading (Sonar Studio 8.5 and then X1 Studio) as I still have a large collection of unfinished projects made with it that I am hoping to come back to one day and finish I really like what X2 has to offer but the upgrade pricing is a bit prohibitive, really. It looks like it has never been more expensive to upgrade from the previous version than it is right now |

It looks that if you upgrade to X2 Studio from X1 Studio (£79.00) and later decide to go for the full-blown Producer version (£239.00) you will end up paying £318 altogether. It's quite excessive I would say... |

Looking for convergence maybe? Not looking for convergence, just looking for common sense. If Toyota puts the controls for the radio on the steering wheel so you don't have to reach over and take your eyes off the road to change the radio station while driving, every other car mfg goes... "Hmmm... that makes sense."... and do it. It's a pretty common thing in engineering and design to adopt good sense ideas from elsewhere. Some DAW mfg's seem to ignore small good ideas for years for no reason other than that they didn't think of it first. Look how long it's taken the industry to adopt something as obviously useful as automation track lanes. It's ... puzzling? |

X2 Producer upgrade: (from X1 expanded) $99 X2 Studio upgrade: (from any non-LE version) $99 With X1 they changed philosophy and doing version upgrade is the same for Producer and Studio. We were a bunch never taking the leap to Producer due to that every version upgrade for Producer were $179 and for Studio to Studio $99. Then adding this difference year after year it becomes quite a lot of money. So we stayed by Studio version. So now it's a onetime only extra cost going Producer as it seems. Smart move - I think a lot of folks go Producer more easily. But it seems Cake is not only doing smart moves. Some folks on Cakewalk forum realized custom colors on stuff in X2 were less flexible than X1(some background color ruler or something). But using a preset from Sonar 8.x those colors could be customized. Cake does not always know what they are doing. |

When I was upgrading from 8.5 Studio to X1 studio the price was £69 but the upgrade to Producer was "only" £169 if I remember correctly. Now, if I wanted to upgrade from X1 Studio to X2 Producer it is £239. That is quite a difference, isn't it? |
