A new mini production using a single instance of Iris playing a preset from the Patchpool subscription series called Wonderland Split.
Just realtime improvisation using ears careful listening where I'm in the moment, discovering how the sounds are evolving. Then allowing the space needed so my playing doesn't get in the way of this progression, developing sensitve musical dialog to the currents of change within the sound universe. I'm getting orientated fast with Iris thanks to a well laid out interface where it's very quick and easy to get an overview. It's very interesting to see how split works and how the keys turn red when you move out of RT range. I also love that i can have more than one window open at a time, that's a first for my long list of plugs. The learning curve is much less stressful and more fun with access to these great patchpool sounds so I can start working with the musical performance aspect right away. Experiencing advanced"programmer/sounddesigners usage quickly illustrates the effects and the function of the Iris instruments different features. I really don't know how I could improve on many of Simons patches..I speculate that it is most fruiful if you use them as touchpoints for further original explorations instead of something to be tweaked or slavishly copied. Simons high quality and imaginatively concieved "raw" sample material is there to be further exploited in totally new ways as the samples easily ported into new presets, and as to enabling experimentation Iris seems to excel, because of an inviting interface motivating and encouraging users to go into wild experimentation modus. http://soundcloud.com/twotoneshuzz/theeyeofthestorm/s-OHHHA ---- waves break, but somehow it all makes sense. Working with a single Patchpool sound from the Subsciption series for iZotope Iris. Plus 3 sounds for Chromaphone from the Patchpool soundset, ChromaZone.
as well as a few effects. Trash 2 Uhbik D (delay) and Uhbik F (Flanger) 2CAudios B2 reverb"new acquisition" this is a really a pro level super sound quality, creative bungee jump into reverb ecstasy. Sounds used. Iris: Ethereal Bell Scape, I've worked tones that last in some cases the whole length of the sound file used in sample slots one and two. It's a whole composition in it's own right. I have a setup in numerology that gives me easy access to ultra long single notes. This 10 minute track covers just 16 steps of a sequence! To get my own signature on the material I've used some Lfo generated Pitchbend, as well as made a staggered fade in and out of the 3 samples that make up the patch at intervals.. Trash distortion fades in occasionally. B2 reverb is used Chromaphone: here I've setup a few modulation devices in Numerology so I have acces to: Pitchbend, Aftertouch, Modwheel. Easy to setup and very powerful Swell Hacker, Wood timpani (Uhbik F comes in occasional) Ubhik Delay fades in an out Occasionally And one more secret bell like sound. With distortion and B2 https://www.box.com/s/cycewkffqhqutxlwk3c9 ---- waves break, but somehow it all makes sense. |

EDIT: After ten minutes of brain cinema I must say, that this is one of the best tracks I've heard from you until now. You are developing compositional skills in terms of form, density, unpredictability. |

Debating the Fiscal Cliff
http://soundcloud.com/arachnaut/debating-the-fiscal-cliff Fractal Tune Smithy generating MIDI data through Loopbe30 to Sonar on 4 channels assigned to 4 different Chromaphone presets. 1 Spicatto Flute 2 Rimbaphone 3 Tuvalu 4 Kung Fu Mallets Each Chromaphone track has one, two or three stacks of Kore effects playing Reaktor ensembles. After setting this up, choosing the Chromaphone voices and effects that I liked, I started it all and just tweaked the knobs with Fractal Tune Smithy playing the parts. After about an hour of this improvisation, I got a feel for the interactions of the knobs and I took an 11 minute segment and used it as the audio source for a few more stages of Kore effects. This last pass was used to unify the piece into a consistent state of delirium. Screen pictures follow (load in new window to see them Full-sized). Chromaphone:

Jim, that's a very hypnotizing and dramatic track, also in conjunction with the track title |

I got myself into all kinds of trouble lately
This track is more at the soundbed stage, which can be further developed either by adding som sturcture give thematic and instrument elements. But for now I post it as is, I often just listen back to these beds and get a feel for this electronica world I'm developing find out what I like dislike, identifying sounds I've created thinking about the techniques used. My subconscious absorbs it and then I move on..
