Hi,

I've been thinking about getting a real cheap monitor control for my home studio. I have a pair of ADAM A7X, a pair of computer speakers and a pair of AKG K601.

I've been looking at Presonus monitor station, Mackie big knob etc... But they're a bit to expensive for me. So today I came across this little thing:

http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/HA400.aspx

Have anyone tried this one? Will it color the sound much?

I know it's a headphone amp but I think it might work...

Not the right thing at all, IMO.

Preferable : http://www.thomann.de/gb/sm_pro_audio_nano_patch.htm
my other modular synth is a bugbrand

+1. Or actually: http://www.smproaudio.com/index.php/en/ ... /m-patch-2
The simple NanoPatch doesn't have a switch for two outputs.

Don't use a headphone amp for anything else than headphones. Just don't. That NanoPatch will probably do what you want.

Maybe not, but I can use it for my headphones, my computer speakers and maybe an extra pair of headhphones, right?? Should work fine? My Adams can go directly from my soundcard.

Yes. But how will you adjust the volume on the Adams?

I have a presonus firestudio mobile with one knob for main out and one for headphones. In the headphones output i can plug in this behringer headphone amp to be able to adjust the volume of computer speakers and headphones.

Again, the SM Pro Audio M-Patch 2 is just slightly more expensive than the Behringer HA400, but 1000% more suited to the task you want it to perform.

The M-patch costs 5 times more, so it's not slightly more expensive ;). I just want a want a way to control my headphones and computer speakers and I think this one will do the job. I am not using it for my ADAMs... I have a seperate knob for them on my Presonus Firestudio Mobile.

EDIT: If i get the m-patch 2 I'll have to get a XLR to 3.5 mm converter and I haven't seen to many of those around..

Ehrmmm, yes. Whoops... Thought I read somewhere a price of €104 for the HA400, seems it's less than €20 indeed.

Hi again guys. I'm still considering this and now I've found this one:

http://www.stagebeat.com/Stage-Line-PPA ... 770-101594

I know it's not the right thing really, but still it's about half price compared to the M-patch 2 and I seems like it will do the job since I just need to control the volume on my ADAM A7X, AKG K601, Iphone headphones and a pair of computer speakers.

Could there be any problems connecting the Adams to this? Will it damage the speakers or why shouldn't I do it?

Sure:
Output 2 x 16mWRMS/8Ω,
2 x 35mWRMS/32Ω,
2 x 15mWRMS/600Ω
(per headphone)
The max. voltage that goes to the Adams is 10x too high, forcing you to limit yourself in the volume know range, leading to sub-optimal gfain staging. And:
S/N ratio 64dB
THD 0.1%
That's pretty bad, really... Especially if you can't drive it too loud, the S/N ratio becomes something like 10dB worse. The Signal/Noise ratio should be something like 90dB, you're then 35 dB off. Since each 3dB is twice as loud, you have background hiss at 2^12 = 4096x the level it should be.
