Dyeing Plastic?

...and how to do so...

Anyone ever done it?

Got a couple of bits of silver/grey equipment that I hate and was wondering if that vinyl dye stuff you can get would be worth a shot. Looks like you just spray it on like paint but obviously it's a dye so gets absorbed instead.

a friend used hammerite to paint his microwave black to match his rack.not sure about dye though, is the plastic absorbnt enough to hold it?

Waldorf not Russell Hobbes I presume? :)

But apparently plastic is absorbent enough at the molecular level... I've found you can buy cans of it too touch up car interiors and stuff.

Found this tute too which seems to be exactly what I want to do:

Just wondering now if that classic 'behringer' silver finish is actually a sprayed on finish that wouldn't take well to dyeing. Only one way to find out I guess. :)

Never tried it by myself but apparently it works pretty well. Can't remember the name of the forum at the moment but one of members was recommending stuff from Halfords. He attached pics of his work and it looked really amazing.
