It can be interesting to try out new / lesser known software.
If the criterion is that I use the software but it isn't very popular then there is nothing really for me to list.

There are many sequencers & hosts that are certainly much less popular than the obvious standards. I haven't tried most of them, and the few that I have certainly never got used extensively. If you're interested in anything like that then there are plenty to share. For example, Radium looks unique and interesting, but I've never used it. OpenMIDIProject's Sekaiju looks like an interesting MIDI sequencer software, but again, I've never used it. If you start adding things like trackers to the list (like Protrekkr or Schism Tracker) then the list could get quite huge.

Well there is Usine ( http://www.sensomusic.com/usine ) that I use all the time and isn't that famous (hopefuly this will change).

I think that what is challenging at first with it is that you have to see it like something between a modular like max or PD, and a track based DAW. It has sequencer (timeline) too, so you can attack it both ways. To me it is a lot like reaper, reaper being on the "traditional DAW" side, but close to the edge, and Usine on the "modular DAW" side, but close to the edge too.

That's ok. The responses so far have been awesome, thanks to all!

Another vote for Numerology. It's the core of my set-up, fantastic sequencer.

One of the most underrated hosts out there has to be Zynewave Podium.

Oh, and there's LMMS with a somewhat FL Studio like handling.
It's called "Linux MultiMedia Studio", but it can actually run on Windows machines, dunno about Mac though.

Be sure to checkout MuLab, see http://www.mutools.com/mulab-product.html

It's much deeper than one would expect at first sight!

And even more with the forthcoming MuLab 5!
