Hi There!
First off I just wanna say that tobybear, you is the man! Your plugins are excellent, you got good ideas, I just wish the top music soft companies had your kinda blokes working for them I was very enthusiastic about the MIDIbag, especially the plugin microtuner. As I have the 3000+ scala file collection (which is available for free from some URL I already forgot - should be easy to locate though)this would give me access to zillions of new tonal possibilities. However, I did not find the following, quite crucial info from tobybear's site nor from the manual: In order for the microtuning to work correctly according to the loaded .scl files, what is the exact pitch bend amount to be used in the synth/etc. midi-device receiving the microtuned-notedata? The pitch bend range, of course, affects the tuning to a very great degree. Also, it would be very handy to see somewhere the name of the file one has loaded into the tuner plugin. I apologize in advance if this question has been asked and answered 943287693695 times already. I don't have net access (writing this from a friend's pc) so I don't have time right now to read through the vast amount of postings you got here. Thanks again, you save my day! All the best. |

Mmmh, I think this was in the old manual, but obviously not in the new one, so here we go:
The MIDI pitch bend range should be set to 1 semitone, but you can actually adapt the plugin to use a different range. The next version will contain an option to do this easily (as well as display of the filename). Cheers Toby |

hey toby. That microtuner is such a brilliant plugin. Please do an update - at least the stuff you promised in the above post.
Implementing the VSTMidievent.tune thing as a different workmode would be great, even though I think it's only implemented in plugins from steinberg, most developers don't bother I guess... Have you checked out the microtuner in cubaseSX? the GUI is nice - it lets you edit the tuning in cents for each semitone. this is easy to work with since you'll have your favourite tunings as presets - no need to import files all the time. It would be an easy addition: 12 text fields and 12 vst parameters. I know it does impose a certain limitation (scales can have a maximum of 12 notes... so just disable it when a scl. file with more than 12 notes is loaded. I promise I'll donate if you finish this plug |
