i am a bit surprised how quote good this synth is after locating some of the better presets. Plus the cpu usage seems very realistic..

I really need to invest in some of the commercial banks as i keep forgetting i had the beta nfr of this...

i find the factory library 50/50 but there's some real gems in there with perseverance, the usual suspects of course, bigtone, etc

We're very glad to announce the release of Aiyn Zahev's Factory Expansion Bank for SynthMaster!

This soundbank brings 50 new presets in a wide range of styles: Inspiration was taken from film scores, trance and electro house, progressive house and other electronic genres. Although the set is geared more towards modern sounds, the sounds also incorporate oscillator drift and random modulations to create movement and spontaneity associated with the classic analog synths.

There are many beautiful serene sounds suitable for filmscore, ambient, chillout and similar styles as well as high energy music suitable for dance genres.

There are extensive modulations available on most patches from the EZ and XY controls.

The presets in this soundbank are categorized as:

After a long while, we have a new update folks: v2.5.4.146

We have the following updates/fixes in this version:

1. FIX: SynthMaster skips playing notes at the beginning of a MIDI file when it contains CC123 (all sounds off) message at the very beginning
2. FIX: Mouse wheel movement doesnt change the user interface for Osc type parameter.
3. FIX: Mouse wheel increment is incorrect for dropdown controls
4. FIX: LFO Attack parameter is not working
5. FIX: Hold pedal implementation is not correct for notes that are pressed multiple times
6. FIX: Notes timings are incorrect when engine quality settings is higher than 'Draft'

Still hung notes in Orion.. sometimes Synthmaster doesn't even receive the note on messages.. seems there are still some bugs with MIDI handling in Synthmaster.

Why does it even have a buffer selection? Why not allow the host/interface to manage this instead?

Synthmaster always had syncing issues in Orion but never the hung notes and missing note on messages until the revision before this current one. It is the only synth I've ever seen misbehave in this manner (with midi issues).

Sounds good though through the issues.. just wish it was usable (ie didn't have the mentioned issues).

Sounds very much like the problem that I have with Synthmaster and Kore. Missed note-on and note-off messages here and there make it unusable. Just checked and the issue is still there in this latest version...

We're doing our best to make it work in all hosts.

So far, we've tested with the following "major" hosts:

Studio One
Cubase
Reaper
Ableton Live
Fruity Loops
Logic Pro
ProTools

and we dont have any of the issues you guys describe.

I can't get it to work - some message about buffer size being incompatible or something...

Try to set audio hw buffer size to a multiple of 16 bytes, such as:

256, 512, 768, 1024.

Or set sampling rate to 48k if your hw accepts only milliseconds as buffer size.

do you mean my global buffer size for my audio card in my DAW? My soundcard (prism orpheus) only has m/s and all my projects are in 44.1

I purchased the "Sounds of the World" expansion (along with two others that installed fine) for Mac 10.7.5. After running the expansion installer, the samples appear in the Expansion folder, but the presets are nowhere to be found.

The installer copies the preset bank file to:

/Library/Application Support/KV331 Audio/Presets

Could you try manually copying the bank file? The preset bank file ends with .smpb extension.

Yes, that worked. These sounds are like nothing I've ever heard before, truly amazing.

You should probably add some notes to the installer to tell people to copy the preset file manually.
