Was j-m even being rude?

I thought us Brits were supposed to 'get' irony.

I seem to remember CMT bouncing off the walls a while back when FranzM (was it?) made a reference to a certain well-known development environment - depite having made it quite clear that he loves this synth (I really ought to check that I'm not putting words in his mouth ... but FranzM is one of the good guys, so I'm sure I'll get the mildest of reprimands should he wish me to edit that out).

This forum (like pretty much every other one out there) is not the place for sensitive folk. Maybe pasting your full (very full!!) FAQs into three or four threads was pushing it a little, Walter - but you edited them down as soon as anyone complained. And I don't think any of your other postings have been inappropriate. In fact, as someone who rarely scolls down the page, much less views any of the others, I quite appreciate multiple postings - I wish some of the other devs did the same: just because I'm lazy doesn't mean I don't want to know what's going on.

People who appreciate your work appreciate it, and those who don't, don't. Take on board any criticisms the latter throw at you, but focus your attentions on the first group. 'Feel the love', as I believe the young people of today say (or was that some other day?). The other stuff will only send you nuts.

And good devs aren't so thick on the ground we can afford to lose you just yet.

(Oh - and Mac: listened to A-elect-whatsit again on a long walk to the shops last night. I'm gonna need some much better earphones if I'm going to find anything bad to say about it.)
None of the really dumb people I knew when I was young are young any more.

Hello,

The planned v1.08 won't be released at the moment because it will contain added features and this is not allowed during the KVRDC12 voting period.

The smoothness I was looking for is related to the amplitude modulation by sequencer control or LFO square wave.
As in the real world (it's not a bug), amplitude modulation might produce 'clicks' in some patches so I thought on removing them with some internal filtering. Then I realized that was not a good idea altering a real behavior.

So, the best of both worlds is adding a lag control for AM inputs so the user will decide when to smooth or leave the 'clicks'. That's the reason why I have to add a new feature.

Bye for now,

Walter

I want this on a T-shirt (no, really!) O___o

Thank you for the nice comment

It was amicably resolved. For the record, CMT is my top vote for the 2012 DC.

FrantzM: apologies for misspelling your name earlier.
Mac: The 'new' album is mighty fine, too. m-i-g-h-t-y fine.

Thanks to the synthprofessor (I hope it's not who I think it is ...) I now know the TCM sequencer is modelled after a Synthanorma. I did wonder - but didn't like to show my ignorance by asking.
I knew I'd seen one before - TD, I thought. And sure enough, that's what it is - albeit a specially modded one, with the top row constrained to semi-tone (even tempered) steps, making it much easier to 'play' / program 'live'. It first emerged on Trans Europe Express - Ralf having previously declared, 'I am a human sequencer'.
More info here: http://www.elektropolis.de/ssb_synthanorma2.htm (Warning: contains mild gear-porn catering to gentlemen 'of a certain age'.)
Some sites with info on this machine contain pics of Zinovieff's studio, mistaking it for Kling-Klang. If we can convince Walter that Kraftwerk used a Synthi 100, do you think he might build us one?
Come to think of it ... they did use an AKS ...

Not sure which one you're referring to (I record too many ;-) ), but thanks :)
(BTW, my reply is on its way...)

'Playing for Keeps'. Beautiful.
Just found the other 'new' stuff. Grabbing a couple as I type. I might give them a listen if I ever get bored of BLIPS.

Now, now, Walter. What have I told you about teasing?

Voting's about over (and still not absolutely decided whether to do so myself) so it's not going to make any difference what I say now. So here goes.

Another Arp/Minimoog clone? Mono. Non-touch sensitive. OK, so it's got a sequencer - but only 16 steps? No patches (almost) in the first release. And not so much as a delay or chorus to make it 'sound nice'.
Are you nuts?
The fact that it got so much attention is as baffling as it is gratifying.
It's what makes KVR - even after all these years - such a very special place.

How can it be fair for me to vote, when I've spent so much time with just one entry? I gave most of the other synths a quick 'once-over' - Poly 2106 deserves a lot more attention than I've been able to give it just yet - but none of the soundware, and few of the effects: I keep meaning to give Proximity and Space 360 a workout (for a long-planned project), and PTEq and Thrillseeker both do nice things to TCM ... but, there I go again ...

Winning a DC is a big deal - show me a developer that wouldn't put that on their homepage! But in this instance, the 'taking part' really is (almost) as important. A bit like literary awards, where simply being shortlisted, let alone winning, is often worth more in sales (immediately, and over a career) than the often nominal prize money.
Not that $600-odd is chicken-feed to most VST developers.
But if just 100 of the people who voted for TCM had sent you a tenner instead, it would have raised more than the top prize! (Of course, so far as I can tell, there's nothing in the rules against their doing both!)
Without DC12, though, would those 100 people have even found out about TCM?

So, Walter.
You've upset a few people around these parts (and you're really gonna have to work on learning not to do that). But you've also made an awful lot of friends.
Get working on that separate sequencer that a few people have asked (and several more are hoping) for. Make it donationware/shareware/payware if you wish.
And if you decide to continue developing the Odyssey and Minimoog clone(s) as separate plugins, I don't think anyone would object to your asking that people pay - so long as TCM remains free, of course. (If you can bear to put in the hours required to 'upgrade' the Ody to a 2600, I know where my credit card's hiding!)
EMS gear? Don't get me started.

Whatever your plans, if you're hoping to make any money out of developing plugins, you need to act soon. (I know, I know! DC isn't even over yet!)
A handful of developers have emerged from this Challenge as serious players. You're one of them, Walter. And good will can get you a long way in this game.
Don't squander it.

(And dammit, Mac ... 'Click' just kicked in ... I do have other things to do, you know!)

You are right Mr. Syntilla, but I'm afraid our frontman is trekking somewhere, literally 'disconnected'. He left his trainees at charge and went out for some fresh air.

I know about some stuff planned for the next year but it can't be a full job until some money comes regularly. You know, other work has to be done to fill gaps.

But this is going to be good and there will be CMT for a long time.

Regards,

Peter

Forgive the crude arithmetic, but dividing the prize 'pot' by the likely number of votes cast, the average member rates their favourite plugin this year to be worth around fifty cents.

Is development really only a rich person's 'hobby'?

As I posted elsewhere, sometimes 'free' feels more like 'stealing'.

To whom it may concern. I am planning to make YouTube videos using your freeware plugins. I am asking permission to use your freeware plugins in my noncommercial tunes and videos. Thank You. :)

BTW, if your project is going to end in a distributable format like CD, would be nice to see our name credited within...

Thank you for choosing 'Trans Computer Maschine'.

Good luck with your work!

Thanks for 1v07 - does sound nice: haven't pushed it into clipping yet!

But ... the PB 'zipping' is back / still there ... and sometimes also now sticks - especially at the extremes (-64).

Is 1v08 still on the cards? ETA?
