Guys, is there any way of running it in Windows ?
Is it possible to use DSSI outside of linux ?
I know there was a windows version compiled some time ago (CUTEVST HEXTER) but DSSI version progressed significantly.

the CUTEVST Hexter was like 90% perfect. What was wrong with the project that it had to be dropped exactly? Why couldn't anyone sort out the problem and take on the projects source code? Why was the ball dropped so easily for such a worthwhile project? The CUTEVST guy went deep underground too, the guy must have changed his name or become a monk.

That's what the developer wrote on his homepage.2005-11-13 (November 13, 2005) - Sorry, took a closer look at GPL license and found out VST plugin interface is not compatible with it since it is proprietary code so I removed the plugins.

Hexter is my fav synth for dx7 sounds.
The GUI is a little bit "vintage", but it sounds very good, in my opinion.
I'm not a developer, therefore I don't know how hard it would be to take the source and continue the project, but I would be very happy about it.
OT: does it exist another free dx7 vsti able to load sysex presets ?

Hexter is one of my favorites, too. I wish I knew how other plugins, like Zyn, can get around the GPL to mantain a VST port. XD;
(I have the source of CUTEVST Hexter around here somewhere, but not so sure if it'd be okay to give it away.)

pretty sure the linux folks have reverse engineered the troubling
Steinberg code legally. 'Festige' I believe is the gui app for loading
.dlls without the Steinberg legalese restricting it's inclusion in
linux distros. Credit to falkTX for coding it.

A glibc 2.15 based linux or newer is needed for the
new improved linux Hexter, unless someone compiles it
for older distros.
WattOS is a new enough ubuntu clone built for laptops,
of CD size, and synaptic can install the
extra audio apps, when the right repositories are added.
Many are already in the main repo.
