In this night's episode of Lazy vegan wants his belly full before bed I'm eating rye porridge mixed with red lentils, topped with random chili and grated ginger.
Another good contender would have been man porridge, which is just porridge mixed with nettle, but I'm saving up on my nettle supplies. Still several months to go to get more. And on the topic of quality porridge, here's a tip to give it a bit of a variety: heat oil on the pan, add porridge flakes(?) and make them golden on it, if you're going to add sugar add it at this point to caramelize it, then add water heated ready in a water boiler, put a lid on the pan and turn off the stove... It just tastes about twelve times better than regular porridge (that is, boil water+add porridge material). |

The world's first and only Green Galaxy Pie.
It's like lemon chess pie, but made with lime instead of lemon. The "galaxy" is just a gimmick to make it look less plain: green sugar sprinkled atop the pale yellow custard-like filling and swirled around with a fork just before baking. Ended up looking like suspiciously bright-green spinach quiche but it tastes great. Next batch into the oven: dinner rolls. |

Dinner last night: fried pickles and 10 super-hot buffalo wings. Runs from 2AM until 10AM, no breakfast, just now eating some very much not spicy lunch meat. Dinner: hot dogs, again non-spicy. ---- My bloggity blog: http://the-serpents-fang.blogspot.com/ Red Room Authors Page: http://redroom.com/member/edward-averill Tracktion 4 and proud of it! GO T4! |

The first slice was delicious. Bread rolls are out and on a wire cooling rack. Pork roast has been coated with a dry rub of spices for several hours so it's time to light some charcoal. Hope the fire will light and stay going a couple hours at a low burn in slightly below-freezing weather. :-S I might need to use one of my more unusual cooking tools, the Suzy Homemaker Industrial Propane Torch, to light it. |

Get better soon, Wooly. "Jewish penicillin" is what we called chicken soup when I was young.
Me: Homemade lasagne with homemade Italian bread. Made enough lasagne for about 20 meals, enough bread for 10. About two thirds of the lasagne is in the freezer in double-wrapped four-serving blocks. |
