Give me good sound and simple easy to use GUI, set controls and forget. I don't need to stare at an overly cluttered "blingful" 3D realistic rendered GUI all day when I am concerned with the music and sound I am hearing. GUI's like that are often hard to navigate and and hard to tell the settings you had previously dialed in. At the end of the day, simplicity that gets you a good sound quick from an already good plugin is what matters. Not showing the plugin GUI to your entourage and posse "Look at that shiny GUI, it's da bomb yo. It sounds shite, but it's da bling bling swag, I'ma use it anyway dawg". Akin to putting expensive rims on a beat up Ford Escort car.

Not saying the Atomic Reverb is like that, sounds good actually. Just a general comment though, especially to devs who use stock synthmaker/SE modules and slap a pretty GUI on it, then charge money for it (mostly for the GUI). Hey, you might like that, but there is a free plugin out there that sounds the same, or a free plugin that is coded by hand that sounds way better.

Post

this can't be synthmaker as it has a mac 64 bit version.

Post

I did not say it is synthmaker, I know it's coded by hand. Someone previously mentioned a synthmaker plugin in their post though.

No problem, sorry for the misunderstanding. Yes i see now i think you mean the minimal systems stuff.. there has always been debate whether those guys use SM stock modules with a pretty gui.. i am going to find out for myself when i try the demos on my windows laptop when i have the time

...What do you think?
Haven't tried the demo, but listening to the audio samples didn't make me want to DL it. That sax sounded particularly painful. The "tail" demos were nice though, but then other verbs have nice tails too (Shimmer, Room, Breverb for eg).

Okay... You're nuts

But seriously, while I believe the GUI is important, I don't believe it should be to high on the list of priorities when choosing a plugin. Dismissing the Valhalla plugs because of the way they look, or wanting to buy a plug because it looks nice seems dumb to me.

Nobody's gonna care what your plugins look like when they listen to your music.

I laugh at dismissing valhalla because of looks. Yep, the jokes have already happened, he's taken his ribbing......BUT, they sound fantastic and won't break the bank.

Exactly.

People get carried away with the nice GUIs anyway. Pay more attention to the sound, since that's all you get in the end. Your master won't sound better because "that" plugin had a nice looking GUI. Also, there's a functionality of the GUI to consider. GUI that makes me achieve things faster is the winner for me. No matter the "bling", because time is money. That's the secret of the Waves' plugins, actually. The old ones especially. It's not the sound quality. It's the results that you get fast that count. You don't have to think if that knob is set to 1 or 1.5 due to fake 3D perspective on the perfectly hardware lookalike rendered knob some bozo thought would be cool to look at. I would actually prefer to have a completely GUIless versions of some plugins with just a few to a dozen parameters. It would be faster to work with them that way, and you pay *absolute* attention to the sound since there's really nothing interesting to look at in the universal GUI. :hihi: IMHO, of course.

You know, fake perspective GUIs are like silicon tits: it looks nice until you experience them with your own hands.

My birthday wish: that most of the developers make GUIless plugins available for us "weirdos". And sell them at a discount price. I'm absolutely and completely serious, guys. I'd buy the completely GUIless versions of many plugins there are. It concerns the FX plugins mostly, of course. Synths usually have too many parameters to be useful GUIless. But TB303 emulations work perfectly without any GUI. :)

Very interesting reverb imo, with some unusual features.

Interesting, never seen this one before.

I liked character of his long tail (and it very different in both - dense and room modes). Besides it have really huge library of early reflection types, what can allow to create a large range of various spatial effects (when reverb tail is disabled). Also very liked his Width knob work.
Also about registration - there is supported deactivation.
In general, one of favorite reverb for me now (along with Ariesverb)

The best reverb in my production chain.
With a wide range of possibilities and high quality sound!
