I dont speak Robot:

Created using only Voyager Vst in Ableton Live 8 Demo: demo expires soon, good bye Ableton.

Voyager Instances used: 23, none sampled

Ableton native FX used: Multiband Dynamics, Auto Filter, Compressor, Limiter, Reverb, Ping pong delay, grain delay, EQ eight, Simple Delay, EQ three. I used a lot of 'em.

DR = 5 Crying or Very sad

Hello OSCers Smile I've submitted a preview of my entry, done with Cubase Studio 4 (I'm still using this one, despite owning Cubase 6.5, due to stability / compatibility reasons) and 25 Voyager instances:

More details will follow with the definitive version.

All fine except Philteroid which seems to have been pulled by the developer immediately after release for some reason as I can't find it available anywhere.

Bzur: 25 Voyager instances is nice and good testament to synth stability.. Cool

Looks like only the T-Force Trance Gate would be allowed as the other 3 seem to affect the modulation. But I'm not an expert or the moderator. The Proximity may be borderline depending on their accurate use of the word modulation- it would be cool if it was allowed.

Proximity is an effect plugin mostly used for recording improvements, that was what other forists told me.
So forget to use it, it is not forbidden, but it won't make a big difference to the sound if you are not using vocals, acoustic drums or guitars on a microphone.

Really? I thought a rule was nothing allowed which affects modulation? Cool.

Where do you see that these plugins have modulation capability? I only see the word 'modulation' in aurelia filtha's description, and it seems to refer to the LFO which modulates the filter cutoff frequency. So it is not a modulation effect per se. Did I miss something?

In the OP's original order...

1. "Distance modulation options extend the creative possibilities even further."

2. "Philteroid is also armed with various amplitude modulation sources and can be used as envelope shaper, expander, noise gate, ring modulator."

"Frequency Modulators: FM, ADSR envelope, envelope follower, external audio, LFO, MIDI (key tracking).
Amplitude Modulators: AM, ADSR envelope, AR envelope, envelope follower, external audio, LFO."

3. "modulation-time (FREQ) and Depth-potis - Inverter (positive/negative)."

4. None that I see.

As I stated, I'm not an expert, but I tend to shy away from units which may unwittingly disqualify my tunes. If I see "modulator or modulation" I would do as OP did and inquire, if I REALLY felt I had to use it. Very Happy

Right.

1. Distance modulation sounds like it could be used for creating doppler effects, which are essentially pitch shifting, so it shouldn't be allowed.

2. I hadn't looked at Philteroid's description at all since it was already disqualified due to not being available, but I agree that FM & RM shouldn't be allowed.

3. This is the one I was referring to, and I think it means the LFO frequency and depth for filter cutoff modulation. If so, I don't see an issue with this one. But I haven't tried out this plugin, so I'm not sure.

You can still use effects that has modulation, and even use it (minimally), as long as the mod effect is secondary.

"Any type of modulation effect like chorus, phaser, flanger etc is not allowed. However, if another type of effect (like delay or reverb for example) has modulation as a secondary effect, it can be used, but the modulation usage must be minimal."

As I see it, Proximity is not a pure modulation effect, but has modulation possibilities so would comply with the rule.
