Windows Update killed my Zoom R8 drivers on Win 7 64 bit

It just installed an automatic update today, and now the Zoom won't output audio. The line in apparently works if I use ASIO4All drivers, but no output. Any ideas?

Well, this is my workaround: use the ASIO4ALL driver, disable the Zoom output, and use my computer's soundcard for output. So I still have my inputs with direct monitoring and effect, and the control surface. I guess that is something.

And I figured out what it did: somehow it 'promoted' my Zoom to be the system soundcard, it appeared in the Windows audio mixer as the Device. I selected Speakers and closed the mixer, and now everything is back to normal. Thanks Microsoft, not really a big issue now but you sure got me good! Haha!

That's weird, not what I would have guessed, I'd have thought an update broke the driver's ability.
Reminded me of when I got my webcam going, turns out it could only get audio from virtual audio cable 2, so I had to set the onboard mike to playback thru VAC2.

Yeah, it also seemed to weird out BFD2, I had to delete all preferences and rebuild my databases.

Yesterdays automatic update borked my works computer. BSOD at boot. Have spent over 8 hours trying to get it back. It corrupted system files. I have been using the recovery console to get system files back in place. For some reason even though the screen says that the files have been overwritten the date stamp on them has not changed. The system is now back up but I do not know how or why. Looked at event viewer but this does not give me any indication what went wrong. What it has told me is that there are more windows updates about to happen in 10 minutes. Now the machine is running I do not really want it to update and need a reboot.

Just throwing this out there since it hasn't been mentioned... Did you try System Restore?
In the future I'd suggest you do this:
Get a backup imaging program like Acronis True Image or Paragon's Backup. Hell, even Win7 has built-in backup/imaging (though it's pretty basic).
Change your Windows updates setting to alert you, but not install...
Then what you do is hold off running the updates until you have created a backup image of your C: partition. Of course, this needs to be done regularly - at least once a month or so. If for some reason the updates messes something up, you have a fresh backup image to restore from.
I've been using this method for about a decade, and it's never failed me. I'm stunned that in this day and age people who rely on their PCs (uh, DAW users?) still don't bother making backup images - even when this amazing "safety net" tool is free (Win 7, Paragon).
