A selection of twelve unique synthetic choirs painstakingly made up of 215 hand crafted vocal formants. At least 50% of the samples in this collection were created using a hand configured lab pulse generator, a passive exponential ramp waveshaper and a passive L/C resonator based on the 1938 Novachord which was impedance buffered with the vertical signal stages of a classic 1968 Tektronix Tube Oscilloscope! Each formant was processed with vintage classic analog and tube technology and brought together in the same proven 4-voice layering engine as the Orbitone library....

The Pentodian Resonator Choir is now on sale for the very generous price of £10

Please note that Kontakt 4.2.4 or greater is required.

It's rather good, really. Got it at lunch time.
My music is a fusion of jazz and funk. It's called "Junk"

And you tell the kids today

Sounding great though - I particularly like the 2nd example (from 0:20 to 0:40), and there's always a niche for 'choirish' sounds that don't dominate the mix 8)

Well done that man!

Hey thanks, it was a true labour of love... aka several weeks of intense madness!...

Out of sheer curiosity I tried to wind the clock back 50 years. This is about as old school as it gets. The stuff of rooms full of tube infested lab gear and no synth in sight, in fact no synth in existence.

Few will realise the sheer pain (and ringing ears!) that went into this project (which went on to attract the personal attention of two major pioneering electronic musicians). The initial experimentation trying to turn pulse waves into formants using passive resonator circuits. Tweaking everything little by little and then capturing waveforms then test playing them and then tweaking everything again and capturing some more and play testing again to ensure some kind of consistency over and over for days on end! Endless problems with noise and chasing weird hum loops, tons of material auditioned and then junked, days of layering, blending, processing with analog chorus and EQ'ing....

Never again... well, actually, I did but that's another story.

I just listened to the demos... and then I bought it.

Downloading now.

Several have emailed today reporting a "service unavailable" error on checkout. It seems Payloadz have been having server issues but the problem was rectified.

It should be ok now, apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Dan.

You're not browsing on an iPhone by any chance??

There are plenty of demos on my blog: http://hideawaystudio.wordpress.com

SoundCloud requires flash which is a problem for some users.

There's an HTML5 option for embedding Soundcloud stuff into Wordpress which overcomes the iPhone/iPad 'problem'.

Another great release, Dan ... beautiful sounds ... and what a wonderful GUI! ;)

Cheers,

Stephen

Pentodian Resonator Choir ... Love it, absolute no brainer!!

Post

Very nice - I love synth choirs.
Really like the 'Real life' preset as you can just hold a chord and get all this phasing, shifting, sound going on with the phasers.
