Mod edit: Active discussion continues in this thread: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=373966

Thought you guys would be interested to hear about some new EQ-related stuff happening on GetThatProSound.com:

A round-up of the best EQ plugins of every description available in 2013:

30 Of The Best EQ Plugins In The World
http://getthatprosound.com/30-of-the-be ... the-world/

I'll be putting the list up in installments over the next few days, the first part is up now, together with an intro to classic EQ.

The Ultimate Guide to Equalisation

http://getthatprosound.com/ebook-store/

My third after Reverb and Compression, this is written to be as pragmatic as possible, answer all the common questions and provide an approach for using EQ in a mix context. It's been a lot of work to make it worthy of the 'ultimate' tag, so take a look and let me know what you think, of any of the guides.

Cheers everyone!

Having gone on about the significance of past EQs , you could say the Pro-Q is the face of EQ in 2013. It combines a fast and intuitive GUI, massive flexibility if desired (24-band EQ, anyone?) and awesome sound, providing digital transparency or characterful saturation where needed. Definitely worth checking.
I'm pretty sure Pro-Q does not offer any saturation.

I discovered your site through kvraudio too.

I will buy your 3rd book when I'm home after work. I like the previous 2 books.

Pro-Q #1 and EQuality on 2 ?! :P

Now there's a subjective pick! ;) fair enough tho...

Waves PuigTech on 3 ... really? From all the other Pulteq style eqs you think that sounds the best? I'm sorry but I think not! :D
What about NI Enhanced EQ or OverTone PTC-2A?

hmm.. Although I tested most of them and agree that they are great tools, but it turns out that it doesn't seem fair to put a number on any of them, don't you agree?

I think this thread would be more successful in Effects forum.

Hi George,

Your list includes plug-ins that are not available on the Mac platform - it would be valuable to include platform compatibility in the list, or only list plug-ins that are available for both Mac and PC. The inclusion of supported formats (AU, VST, RTAS, AAX, UAD) would also benefit the list.

+1 my exact thought while I was reading the list

Thanks for mentioning - now corrected!

I certainly do agree, which is why I wrote "the list is not in rank order" in the introduction :p
But thanks for making the point, I'm sure others have legitimately drawn the same conclusion from the numbers. I'll try and highlight this more in the article.

The numbering is mainly so you have some idea of where you are and how far into the list you are as you scroll down the page.

Yes, this is something I usually do include when listing plugins - I'll update the entries with this info in the next installment. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks for the comments and generally keeping me on my toes you guys!

Horses for courses? -

The overtone sounds really harsh (to my ears) up top, compared to the IK Program EQ

Don't forget the Maag and ReaEQ. ;)
The only ones I normally use, after years of experimenting.

Yup, I recently installed the demo of the Overtone and played with it. While it is usable, I wouldn't recommend it - as against the IK one.
I don't work here, I just feed the trolls.

The second installment - 11-20 - of the 30 EQs are now up.
Thanks for the reminder about Maag chokehold, didn't include it in my original outline but it's in now :)

Hope you guys find it amusing and informative - the final part will be up tomorrow!
Cheers everyone
