The winter months are too cold for playing music here, so it's the time of year when I start meddling with junk and build things.
Luckily, I've come down with the flu so I took the day off work and was able to document my latest projects. Here they are:
1. Rotary Speaker mkII
This has a foot pedal for speed control

I've blogged the build here: http://silverysqueaks.blogspot.jp/2013/ ... -mkii.html
2. Electro-Theremin / Tannerin
This is based on the Gakken SX-150 synth kit. I replaced the resistor strip and touch pen with a multi-turn pot.
Again, I blogged the build: http://silverysqueaks.blogspot.jp/2013/ ... remin.html
It sounds pretty awful Here's some bad vibrations:

I still love the rotary speaker (hope you feel better soon)
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Great stuff, rotary speaker sounds sweet.
I was reading up on some of the DIY ribbon controllers people have made (using FSRs etc). Look convenient but there's something about your 'old skool' construction that appeals more.
