I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one, but I always thought they were saying, "Wrapped up like douche, another runner in the night..."

REM - What's the Frequency Kenneth?

"You wore a shirt of violent green" is often heard (including by myself) as

"You wanna shag violently"

in this song:

confused:

'i always cross the lines'

for:

'i always proselytize'

When my niece was a little girl she used to sing "sweet hole umba bumba" instead of "sweet home Alabama". Her dad and I thought it was so hilarious we never did correct her.

I used to mishear tons of stupid crap when I was a kid. I don't know why, but my ability to hear all but the clearest lyrics in music only really snapped into focus after I hit 20.

my sister used to sing "I wanna pizza baby" to The Ramones "I wanna be sedated"

and my mom thought they were singing "bring me an iron lung" to that Steve Winwood/Chaka Khan song "Higher Love"

but i probably posted that already a few years back

"You don't need to wear corduroy, just listen to me"... It's obvious, I mean what else could it be?

Funny thing is my wife used to think that was the lyric when she was a kid too...

Another from my childhood:

"Ham on rye, don't nobody worry 'bout me"... I was sure of it, until one day my my older sister laughed uncontrollably in my face saying "'Ham on rye' -- that doesn't even make sense, you idiot!"... I finally got the "I'm Alright" bit, then I felt silly...
You need to limit that rez, bro.

An eight year old in 1979 doesn't know what the word "coy" means, let alone that it's even a word... but said eight year old most certainly knows about corduroys... brown ones and green ones, to be exact... :)

Well I have some fearsome memories from grade school concerning some female cohorts who wore corduroys and were thus a constant fire hazard !!!
( now thats a digression!... FEAR the cohorts in corduroys) Anyhow , props to mister Simon . He has the rare distinction of having penned many of what is known as a " Timeless classic"
