Didn't find a comparison chart for LE, but here's one for WL8 to WL8 Elements.

Though you can expect that LE has even less features.

http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/article/5 ... chart.html

What ticks me off as Wavelab user however, the "special plugins" are part of Elements as well (Sonnox, the new comps, etc. I could care less about the Voxengo CourveEQ.

But for like 15 EUR (that's the price of the mag), you get a fully working audio editor with a sh*t-ton of usable tools. While I as regular user paid several hundred quids for merely a handful more crap plugins, a fully compatible CD burnter, 10 Insert Slots (compared to 4, which can be enhanced with racks or modular environments!) and a currently bugged EBU R-128 meter.

Sometimes I really question Steinberg's bundle policies. But then again, that's Steinberg.

No more money to PG and Steinberg until more than 60-70% of the 3rd party plugins work ok with this stupid software. Oh... and they are the ones that created the standard. Cubase is amazing but this is so f**ked up.

There is fail, there is epic fail, and then there is Wavelab.

I like Wavelab. Even the new version I got, Wavelab Elements 8. I'm used to working in it - so used to it, I could never really accustom myself to the freeware alternatives like Waveosaur and Audacity.

I may be entirely mistaken, but in the newest version, Steinberg seems to have omitted a key bit of functionality that was in earlier Wavelabs and in Wavelab Essential. Under the Preferences you could set a project tempo and it would snap to that grid. I got a metric ass ton of un-edited beat samples that need to have the dead air at the front revoved and the tail edited so that is exactly 4 beats at X BPM. That snap to BPM grid made it so easy.

The new Wavelab GUI is sure ugly, though. It's like someone with no taste's idea of what was groovy 10 years ago.

[Wrong assumption, limitation only exists for audio-montage] I wrote:I hope the Wavelab 7 LE limitation written in blog on top "The biggest restriction is in addition to the limit of two tracks that you can not select a track areas." is HOPEFULLY NOT present in Wavelab LE 8 anymore.

In case you purchased the mag with Wavelab LE 8 you may spend another 50 EUR to get Wavelab eLEments 8. That's at least still cheaper than a direct purchase. Just select "Upgrade from WaveLab LE 6/7/8" when putting Wavelab eLEments 8 to your cart/basket. This upgrade is always electronic delivery (esd).
[Wrong assumption, see following posting] I wrote:I suspect the required eLicenser (steinberg key) for Wavelab editions bigger than LE requires to be purchased extra (about extra 20 EUR).
Here is what you'll get: http://www.steinberg.net/en/products/wa ... ne_up.html

Wavelab 8 LE and Wavelab 8 Elements requires the Software eLicenser , which means licenses got stored on your PC !

only the full Wavelab 8 requires an USB eLicenser which you call steinberg key

Thanks for correcting me! I added notes to my original posting therefore.

So the benefit when upgrading from Wavelab LE 8 (magware) to Wavelab eLEments 8 is much better!

:borg:
But you may transfer (one way!) your "Software eLicenser" data stored on your individual PC to a (extra purchase, about 20 EUR) USB-eLicenser (often called "Steinberg Key" in the shops) to use also Wavelab LE and eLEments on different PCs at different times:

Soft-eLicenser FAQ
Look for "Is it possible to transfer licenses from the Soft-eLicenser to a USB-eLicenser?" at the follwing site under "Soft-eLicenser FAQ":
