OB-Xd - Virtual Analog Synthesizer

It would be good for modern styles of music but perhaps it could have an 'old' mode or something...?
I am looking for it.To emulate those analog imperfections i need .wav samples of unmodulated sounds (which i cant find on the internet) eg 1 osc saw at full cutoff without anything.

I think the vst should sound close to analog synth plugged into the sound card. Its worthless to compare overcompressed .mp3 and youtube videos at all.

Added some additional waveshaping to warm up the sound.Lets compare:
Original ob-xa with some delay.

Raw ob-xd. Some hearable clipping though :?

Maybe i overtweaked params somewhere but what about overall impression?

Error 403 on your dropbox file.

The hardware has more energy in the higher frequencies. In the software the energy is distributed equally across the spectrum, leading to a flatter, duller sound. My advice is to work towards achieving those fresh and shiny highs.

Hard to compare actually. Could you try to equal the envelopes a bit more?

First thing you need to do is nail 1 running oscillator with the filter fully open and Resonance at zero. you should be able to splice the hardware with the plugin back and forth and not be able to tell where the splice points are. The golden example is what Relab did with lx480

After you achieve that, the next step is to calibrate the envelopes at various settings.

Thanks everyone for response.Note that plugin is still in the active development and sound characteristics may change significantly.
Now i want to focus on porting to c++ with mac support and increased performance. So there wont be sound improvements till i get hand to hardware(which i hope to). :)

I am not sure, but it seems to me that the original sounds more intense and pleasing in the mid-frequency range, whereas your emulation sounds sharper and more piercing in the higher frequencies. I personally prefer the original's softer, rounder sound because I am a bit allergic to high frequencies.
But maybe it is just my ears playing a trick on me :)

I have an OB8 if thats useful...should be getting it back from the menders soon...

I get this VST.NET error on initialization. Renoise 2.8

Did my midnight idea to dither the filter .Some tweaking can be done later. No external processing.

Note that this is not added white noise signal , but some complicated noise that modulates itself inside the filter (exists in analogue schemes). That gives high frequencies shiness and low frequencies noisyness.

I think i wont do it by the end of this month. But results i get with c++ are good, at least double performance in current version. :) i think with some dsp tricks i can triple it

nice work...just wondering if a mac au might be planned for 'one day'?
