hi guys,
there is a reverb used in this song which has a tone i'm unfamiliar with. i actually wonder if it is some other modulation which is colouring a regular reverb. it sounds like some harmonics are being drawn out of the sounds.
the effect occurs quite noticeably at 1 minute:

any help identifying how this reverb effect is achieved would be greatly appreciated
cheers!

cool I saw Tetrameth when I was in Australia! I've got a soft spot for the bush doof scene over there.
are you talking about the effect thats on the vocal sample at one minute in? sounds like quick delay or a vocoder to me.

Yea that definetly sounds like a vocoder mixed in with the main vocal sample, it makes it seem like a reverb due to the long-ish release time
the sound could probably be recreated in a few different vocoder plugins, Vocodex maybe (never used this just know it exists and it's a vocoder ) and Logic's own EVOC20 ( I love it )
The sound itself actually sounds pretty simple, doesn't seem to be any modulation and overall it's a pretty clean sound, make sure you have a blank patch open and try starting with a simple sawtooth wave in your vocoder with short attack, normal sustain that sounds right and a long-ish release and i think you're probably 80% there

I think that's a comb filter. Another name for an extremely short delay coupled with fairly high feedback. I'm sure there are plenty out there that can be 'played' via MIDI like in the example. Here's an example of one being used on voice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlw0PMwb2Ik
I was going to point you toward an ancient plug-in by DestroyFX, but it seems that actually produces a similar effect with bandpass filters. Might be close enough for your purposes: http://destroyfx.smartelectronix.com/
Hopefully someone will chime in with a MIDI playable comb filter. I know they're out there, I just can't think of any offhand.
edit: Just remembered Ohm Force's Ohmygod on the Computer Music coverdisc! It's one of the oldest plugs on the disc so it should be there if you have any old issues lying around. Had a go with it at this end and it works a treat! Hopefully someone will be able to suggest a freeware alternative too.
