what is your preferred method for adding articulations to drum parts? what daw has some really good features for this type of stuff? Where you want to add articulations to the high hats to push the beat or whatever. do you like to use the velocity editor in the piano roll?

EG: BFD2 by default uses CC4 [per foot controllers in an e-kit traditionally] for variable hihat open and close. beyond that, typically it's a note number for a different hit, and good hats take up a lot of space with layers for velocity variance. eg., I'm looking at twelve notes for different states of the hihat right now and its folder contains over 4GB, so yes on velocity. the host isn't particularly relevant assuming it has basic midi functionality.
