I am attempting to install the free version of the TX16Wx sampler on my Mac - a Retina display laptop with 16 gigs of RAM - its operating system is the new OSX mavericks (version 10.9.1).

After I go through the installer routine - the app is nowhere to be found. I've done searches, it isn't anywhere. The only things I find are the PDF manual and the .pkg I did the install from. No app or VST instrument anywhere.

So it is allowing me to install the software - but it doesn't install anything or what it does install is becoming invisible somehow,

I'm still hoping I can get this to work. Does anyone have any suggestions?

TIA!

Is the VST being scanned by your host(s)?

Check /Library/Audio/Plugins/VST & /Applications in both Root ( / ) and your user folder. You'll need to be able to view hidden files/folders to reach the root one.

Also try Spotlight (Apple + Space), type in the name, and see what comes up.

The TX16Wx plug-in is indeed in the /Library/Audio/VST folder, and it is the same folder Cubase scans for other VSTs which are working correctly. Unfortunately, Cubase still isn't seeing the TX16Wx in that same VST folder.

I have to ask again - is it possible that the TX16Wx VST has something about it that is not compatible with the new Mac OS? (Mavericks, v. 10.9.1)

Also - I looked inside Garage Band - because it is the only other DAW on my hard drive - and the TX16Wx VST is not there either - whereas my other VST instruments are.

VST Lord is a great app for testing plugins - run it and open the VST directly after selecting File > New Synth ....

It still works on OS 10.9.1. If there are any problems opening the plugin a basic error message will be displayed, otherwise you should see the GUI. This will help you determine if the problem is Cubase or the plugin.

Andy.

Thanks for this - it is a troubleshooting tactic that makes perfect sense!

With VST Lord, I could open all of my VST instruments except TX16Wx - so that should tell us something. Se screen shot of message below:
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

That means there is a basic problem with the .vst file (could be corrupt) or the installation of the plugin e.g. perhaps it is unable to locate a data folder due to permissions.

Try downloading a new copy of the installer - reinstalling might help - but this could be 10.9.1 compatibility, in which case there is not much you can do except contact the developer.

It is worth looking for trouble shooting info online - someone may have found a workaround if it is OS 10.9.1 that's causing this.

Peace,
Andy.

TX16Wx VST for OSX is 64-bit only. Afaik VSTLord only supports 32-bit. And it might be you are running Cubase et all in 32-bit mode too?

I am indeed running Cubase at 64-bit. Since the TX16Wx VST is not seen by BOTH Cubase and GarageBand I think we can rule out the host DAW as the source of the problem. Also - thanks for the suggestion about reaper, I'll check it out.

Regarding this sampler - which I had hoped to test - I'm guessing its time to throw in the towel. This forum is the only technical support I have for this product. Another thanks to all those who participated!

Except for the Official company forum here at KVR you mean? Where posting the question might have yielded both more and quicker answers.

As for your real issue though, seriously, it should work fine (though I confess to not being an expert on all OSX security settings). Which version of Cubase are you running?

I would also like to point out that at least on my 10.9 OSX, garageband is a 32-bit only application. It does however quite happily load the AU version of TX16Wx. Which is a dual binary.

I'll try the official company forum, thanks!
I am running Cubase Artist version 7, build 2070, 32 bit.

I think the "Cubase Artist version 7, build 2070, 32 bit" part pretty much validates my original point. You are running a 32 bit DAW. It cannot load a 64-bit plugin. Either switch to a 64 bit host (reaper anyone?) or use the AU version, which supports 32 bit apps.
