What is mags_mono_nv_demo?

The demo patch is here:
http://spotlightdemos.s3.amazonaws.com/mags_nv.zip

It's a one-octave demo of a different mic-ing of one of the solo violins. Again, just 1 octave, no loop, no frills, etc. Just to see if a different mic-ng works better.

We have a fair amount of time to go, but often in these Group Buys, a lot of people sit on the sidelines and wait until the GB is super close to the highest discount level to join and I suspect that's the case right now.

But I hope people notice that while the Group Buy level reads 30%, when you combine the discount level with the reduced list prices across the board, it's A LOT bigger of a discount. For instance, in December, Concert Strings II was selling for $799 USD. Right now it's at $279.30 USD. That's more than 65% off its previous list price. When you add the list price reduction PLUS the Group Buy discount, this Group Buy actually represents bigger discounts than any of the past KHS Group Buys. I don't think you can find another deep sampled full string library (sections and solo strings) with sophisticated KONTAKT scripting for under several hundred dollars, so it sets a precedent in affordability for these kind of libraries and my hope is that KHS is rewarded for making such libraries a lot more affordable.

eDrummist wrote:I think this is the file that Chandlerhimself is referring to (please let me know if I am correct, Chandlerhimself). It's only a test instrument, a violin, not anything final, in the lowest octave made with a different mic. I'm sure Kirk will chime in soon and clarify the questions that have been asked.

That is the 2nd test file I believe. Those samples have vibrato "baked in". Those sound beautiful also, but the others Kirk posted had that same tone, but they were strait sustains and you could use the LFO for vibrato. Both sound great, but I prefer having control over the vibrato

Right.. The one that used vibrato control is:

Will the extra patches work in the trial version automatically?
I'll be able to purchase the full version soon.
Does the full version already include any enhancements?

The test patch that's at http://spotlightdemos.s3.amazonaws.com/mags_nv.zip is completely separate from either the trial or full versions. It's just a test of 1 octave of a different recording.

If you're referring to the updated cellos and violins that have the new "Dolce Largo" enhancements, those will be in the full version and any new trial versions.

Anyone else like those test sounds besides me? Also thanks for the Dolce Largo Kirk. It sounds great, although I did have to look up what Dolce Largo meant.

I like my dolce largos venti with soy milk and extra sugar. ;)

(Okay, that joke will make sense to Americans and anyone anywhere who's been to Starbucks with their menu items meant to sound Italian.)

Dolce Largo literally translated means "Sweet and slow". Regarding the test patch, I REALLY need input on that before I undergo a recording session.

Here is a comparison , for people that don't want to try it themselves. The first is Spotlight Strings with no verb. The 2nd is the test samples with no verb. The 3rd and 4th have Valhalla Vintage verb added.

As I said before I prefer the test sample as it has more wood in the sound and the attack isn't as harsh. Both sound good, but the richness of the test wins for me.

Sorry I mixed up the files before. Everything should be ok now except I made a mistake and the first SSS sample isn't completely dry.

I may not be submitting a demo after all. I think I'm stuck with using the trial versions during the GB since I can't pay full price right now.

They're not full price. It's that the discounts in the ecommerce system are based on the old list prices. For Spotlight Strings that means a list price of $299 USD instead of $249 USD. That library was already priced low to start, but Kirk decided to take it a bit lower. Of course, there's a huge difference in prices for Diamond and Concert Strings II (was $799 USD lowered to $399 USD).

Postby dandezebra; Sat Feb 01, 2014 8:21 am Re: Kirk Hunter Group Buy!!! EXTENDED DEADLINE!

Hi all! As you can easily tell, I am kind of new here - and a beginner in terms of composition/mixing/etc. on a computer.
Anyhow, I will very soon be Albion I and I am also very interested in the KH stuff (great deal by the way!). I was just wondering what anyone would recommend:

Is there a KH library(s) that would mix well / compliment Albion I?

Or, should I focus on something that KH has that is different from Albion - like solo strings?

Any help would be much appreciated! Also, let me know if I should have posted this somewhere else!
